18 - Soobin

A/N: Happy New Year guys and gays, I hope y'all have a good one!!

I had to edit the texts in the previous chapter a bit because they just wouldn't stay the way I originally edited them, but I didn't change anything in them. And NO, I'm not willing to make text edits or Twitter edits again, my previous SeongJoong book literally killed me while I was editing the Twitter posts.

This chapter is a bit short because of all the texts, but the next few will hopefully make up for it.

Soobin almost fell off the chair when he received the last message and he immediately began hyperventilating. Is it really his mystery boy from Friday? This could only mean him! But how did he get Soobin's number and how does he know it was him?

He instantly put his books aside - who cares if he fails that exam, this is much more important now! He had so many questions running through his head, but he didn't even know where to start. So he asked the dumbest thing he possibly could.

Me:
really?!

'Great job, Choi' he muttered to himself. 'Way to make yourself look like an idiot.' Suddenly the three dots appeared under the unknown number.

Unknown number:
i know u probably don't believe me but it's me i swear

Me:
how do i know it's really you?

Unknown number:
valid question
ask me something we talked about on friday

Soobin's fingers hovered over the keyboard, thinking hard on what to ask. Then he remembered of something and his lips curled into a small smile. If the other knows this one, then he is really his mystery boy.

Me:
what animal do you resemble to?

Unknown number:
Is typing...
a fox
u said i'm the nick to ur judy

Soobin saved the number immediately, feeling his heartbeat in his ears. Is he really about to find his Cinderella?!

Me:
oh my god it's really you
wait
but how did u know who i am?

Cinderella:
oh you know it wasn't that much of a challenge seeing that the whole school is talking about u
which is nothing new
but it wasn't hard to figure out

Me:
fair enough
and how did u get my number?

Cinderella:
i know someone who knows someone

Soobin thought for a second. He still had so many questions and he didn't want to scare the other away by immediately suggesting to meet up - even though he wanted to meet him as soon as possible.

Me:
why didn't u talk to me at school then?

Cinderella:
Is typing...
i was scared

Me:
of what? me?

Cinderella:
no

Me:
then what?

Cinderella:
Is typing...
i lowkey panicked when i saw you with the mask i lost
i heard that everyone is talking about you at school but yk ur always a hot topic at school so i didn't care
ur like a chewing gum everyone is chewing over all the time

Soobin chuckled at the metaphor but also made a mental note. So his Cinderella must be in one of his classes.

Cinderella:
and then i realized u had my mask and it all made sense
and i panicked
because you're choi soobin

Me:
i am, so what?

Cinderella:
it's just
we're so different
ur the popular jock and i'm the invisible kid in the back of the classroom
i was scared you'd be disappointed if u learn who i am
i still am

Me:
i wouldn't be disappointed
whoever you are
i had a great time with you on friday
i thought i was gonna die of loneliness until you came but u danced with me and talked to me the whole night
without knowing that it was "the choi soobin" the school's chewing gum
and btw now u know and still texted me ;)

Cinderella:
stop with the winky face weirdo

Me:
says the one i still don't know the name and the face of

Cinderella:
... sorry

Me:
honestly
you're the best thing that happened to me in a long time
you're so kind and fun to be around
and beautiful
don't be so anxious
i still want to get to know you

Soobin was biting his lip in anticipation as the phone signaled that the other read his message. Maybe he went a bit overboard? What if the other blocks him?

Then he almost laughed out at the answer.

Cinderella:
Is typing...
i'm not beautiful

Me:
i'd argue with that

Cinderella:
are you really flirting with me?

Me:
i know u like it

Cinderella:
... maybe

Soobin inhaled deeply. Let's give it a try.

Me:
i want to meet you again

Cinderella:
Is typing...
Is typing...

Soobin almost yelled out loud in his happiness and was about to type back an answer when suddenly the door to his bedroom opened slightly and his Dad peeked inside.

'Bunny, I'm leaving now. I'll be back by 8' he said.

'Okay, Dad' said Soobin, not even trying to hide his smile.

'Wow, what made you grin so wide? I have a suspicion it's not about your upcoming exam' smiled Mr Choi leaning against the doorframe. Soobin's eyes subconsciously landed on the cork board above the desk. His Dad's gaze followed his and he went to the wall.

'You didn't even show me this picture!' he gasped seeing the printed photo that Soobin pinned on the wall. Taehyun was nice enough to print it for him. It was from the school dance where Soobin was dancing with a boy wearing a silver suit and mask. 'Who's this? Is he the reason you're smiling so much?' asked his Dad excitedly.

'Kind of' admitted Soobin shyly.

'Is he your boyfriend?' asked Mr Choi and took the picture from the wall to take a closer look. Then he said something that made Soobin look up immediately. 'Oh, I remember this suit, it's from our shop.' Soobin's eyes widened.

'Wait, what?! Are you sure, Dad?'

'Yeah, it was bought on the same day when you and your friends visited. Actually right before you came... But it wasn't this boy who bought it. But does it matter?' asked Mr Choi.

'I don't know, but thank you for telling me' said Soobin, even more excited than before.

He was so close to finding his Cinderella!

A/N 2.0: I think I originally planned something with this thing of Mr Choi recognizing the suit but tbh I don't remember if in my drafts it actually has anything to do with the finale lol
