A/N: Heyyo! I'm back from my last exam week, meaning I can finally update the book twice a week - not like it's a long way to go, only a few chapters left :(
.
Maybe I'm at the wrong place, thought Soobin for like the hundredth time in the past half an hour. By now he was pretty sure he got stood up.
His last class was with Mr Jeon who was recently a bit more satisfied with his activity in class since he wasn't sharing a desk with Felix. However his new deskmate, Yeonjun missed that day's class. It's not like Soobin knew where he was.
After class was dismissed he basically flew out of the classroom, running down the stairs while putting on his jacket, almost knocking people over on his way. He didn't even stop until he reached the corner next to the school where they agreed to meet up with his mystery man.
He sighed in relief when he realized he is not late, rather early as no one was waiting there yet. He fished out the silver mask from his bag along with some chocolates he got for the other as a gift and waited there with a racing heart. Both from running and from being nervous. Every time someone passed by he looked up hopefully, but no one stopped and more importantly, none of the people were his mystery man.
Five minutes passed. Ten minutes. Fifteen.
Soobin's excitement slowly died down and concern took its place. Maybe he is at the wrong place. But they discussed it right, on the corner, between the bakery and the school. Or did he misunderstand?
Maybe the other is talking to one of the teachers... or caught up in something and he is late. Still, he waited for another fifteen minutes, sitting down on a bench eventually, playing with his phone between his hands and rereading the messages he sent to the boy.
Me:
hey, i'm here already
sent 3:25 pmMe:
where are u?
sent 3:30 pmMe:
ur not reading the messages, should i be worried?
sent 3:37 pmMe:
hellooooo
sent 3:50 pmSoobin sighed and hugged the mask and the box of chocolate to his chest. He really just got stood up... he couldn't believe it. Was it a joke all along?
He was about to just stand up and leave when someone turned the corner. It was actually two people. For a second he thought it was the boy he's been waiting for, but then he grimaced realizing it was Wooyoung and San. He didn't want to talk to them at all, but it was too late as they already spotted him.
'Soobin-ah!!' exclaimed Wooyoung and skipped over to him with San following him closely.
'Hi' said Soobin defeatedly.
'What are you doing out here, school has been over for half an hour now' said San.
'Yeah... I was just waiting for someone but I guess they cancelled' shrugged Soobin, his hold on his phone tightening.
'Is it the pretty boy everyone is talking about? The one you danced with on Friday?' asked Wooyoung. Soobin nodded.
'And he stood you up just like that?!' gasped San.
'He said he'll meet me here today but maybe he changed his mind' said Soobin, not even trying to hide his disappointment anymore. Wooyoung put a hand on his shoulder.
'Look, this might sound bad but... do you really think he is the one? You just talked to him for a night. And come on, if someone stood up such a great guy as you then maybe he is not worth waiting for at all' he said with a raised eyebrow.
'I just really hoped he would come' mumbled Soobin, now feeling stupid in front of the two older boys who were looking at him with pity and something else he couldn't entirely figure out. They must think he is being so naive. But he couldn't help it. He was naive.
Why did he even think that his Cinderella doesn't only want to make fun out of him? Was it his plan all along? To get Choi Soobin's attention, then give him false hopes and let him down? Wasn't this why Soobin was never interested in relationships and dating? All people do is lie and cheat...
But what if he is overthinking? He replayed his conversations with his mystery man from that night and their texts... the other boy seemed to be so sincere. Would he really play Soobin like that? He couldn't imagine that. He just wanted to forget about it all.
'Hey, how about we go and grab a coffee?' suggested San. 'Let me treat you, it will make you feel better' he added. Wooyoung glared at his brother and pushed him with his elbow.
'Or with me. San is not worth it' he said. San clenched his jaw and Wooyoung took the silver mask from Soobin's hand, examining it for a few seconds. 'You know, you deserve better than waiting for some pretty boy who won't even come' he added, holding up the mask in front of his eyes jokingly.
Soobin just frowned and sniffled, wiping the tears from his eyes that he didn't even realize were there, then grabbed the mask back from Wooyoung.
'Maybe some other time' he muttered and began walking back towards the school.

A/N 2.0: This chapter was a bit shorter and angsty, but the next one will hopefully make up for it! See you on Wednesday!
