A/N: IMPORTANT before we would get started: I won't be updating the book next Wednesday, the next update will be out in a week from today. I have two exams in a few days and I really should be focusing on them, so I decided to skip an update in both books to be able to do better on my exams. Wish me luck!
Also, I originally wasn't so sure about how should I sabotage YeonBin meeting, so I decided to just go with the original story of Cinderella here.
.
Yeonjun was gay panicking for the next few days. They agreed to meet on Friday after school with Soobin to give both of them some time. Well, technically it wasn't him who agreed with the younger but Beomgyu, because as soon as his friend saw Yeonjun about to back out of the whole thing, he took the phone from his hand and continued the conversation with Soobin despite Yeonjun's protests. The older was kind of thankful for it because he definitely wouldn't be able to do it himself, but he was also angry at Beomgyu for fixing a date for him without even asking him first.
But anyways, Friday came sooner than Yeonjun expected. He was nervous the whole day, and he had a bad feeling that something's going to go wrong.
'It's a force of habit, hyung' told him Beomgyu in the boys' washroom. 'Nothing is going to go wrong. He likes you, damnit!'
'How are you so sure he is not going to escape screaming as soon as he sees me?' whined Yeonjun.
'Come on! You don't stink and you're not ugly. He could do much worse' shrugged it off the younger.
'Oh wow, thank you for the support, bestie' said Yeonjun sarcastically, but he could feel his tension ease slightly at Beomgyu's words. Being mad at his best friend always helped him getting his thoughts off stuff that bothered him.
'Okay, and after classes you go out there, meet him at the corner where you agreed to-'
'Technically it was you who agreed' said Yeonjun.
'Whatever. You can thank me later. You go, meet him, go on a date, kiss him, get married, have three kids and a puppy and live happily ever after' finished Beomgyu explaining Yeonjun's life story.
'I hope it will all work out' sighed Yeonjun.
'It will. Trust me' patted his shoulder Beomgyu as the two of them left the room.
.
Yeonjun stood up with a big sigh when class was over, gathering his stuff to go over to his last class of the day - which just happened to be the class where he was sitting next to Soobin. He wondered what the younger will think once it turns out that his new deskmate is none other than his mystery man from a week ago.
The classroom emptied out in the span of a few seconds after the professor left - no one was really fond of staying in there longer than they had to -, only a few students were gathering their books from their desks, about to go to their respective classes. Yeonjun carried his books and was about to follow everyone else outside.
'Yeonjun!'
He stopped in his tracks and turned around slowly in confusion. San and Wooyoung were standing behind him with their bags. He furrowed his eyebrows. What the hell is going on? His stepbrothers never talked to him in public, and ever since the school dance incident they basically acted like if he didn't even exist.
'Y-Yes?' he said, cursing himself for stuttering. San and Wooyoung waited till even the last students left the classroom. San put his books on the desk closest to them and sighed.
'We need to apologize' he said half-heartedly. 'For you know... acting like that last Friday' he added. Yeonjun couldn't believe his ears, but Wooyoung quickly elaborated, making it clear that it wasn't really their intention to apologize.
'Yeah, Mom said we are immature and arrogant and even though I still believe we were right and you were a bitch-'
'Wooyoung!' glared at him San.
'- we are kinda sorry' finished the younger. Which was already more than Yeonjun would've ever expected.
'It's okay. I apologized a million times too but I'm sorry too' he said quietly. He looked at the clock on the wall. He had 10 minutes till his next class. He needed to hurry since that classroom was in the other side of the school building. San and Wooyoung picked their books up and walked past Yeonjun, Wooyoung slightly pushing him with his shoulder in the process. Hm, looks like apologizing doesn't mean they will ever act like they acknowledge him at all.
Yeonjun reached for the pocket of his jacket to check his phone... but he couldn't find it.
'Guys, haven't you seen my-' he began, but then he heard Wooyoung snicker from behind him.
'Looking for this?'
Yeonjun turned around in a split second, seeing his phone in Wooyoung's hand. He gasped and his stepbrothers laughed.
'I can't believe he fell for it' cackled San. Yeonjun frowned and Wooyoung pouted.
'Ahw, Yeonjun is sad because he can't talk to Choi Soobin now' he showed up the phone again. Yeonjun's eyes widened.
'H-How do you know-?'
'Oh come on, I thought you were smarter than that, Choi' narrowed his eyes San. 'Do you seriously think someone like you would ever, ever gain Soobin's interest?'
'He might have liked you behind the mask, but let's face the facts, no one likes you in real life' said Wooyoung. 'But don't worry, we'll talk to him for you' he added with a chuckle.
'He is not going to buy your bullshitting!' snapped Yeonjun. His brothers' eyebrows raised in amusement.
'Oh look, who is brave now' said San sarcastically.
'We'll see about that once you don't show up at your date... by the way, a public washroom is not really the best place to discuss your private lives with Beomgyu. But who am I to object?' shrugged Wooyoung, playing with Yeonjun's phone.
'Seriously, okay, you had your laugh, now give that back!' said Yeonjun walking towards the boys. He was thankful he had his phone coded, at least the idiots can't read his texting with Soobin.
'Well, catch me if you can' grinned Wooyoung with the phone in his hand and began walking towards the door with San behind him. Yeonjun quickened his footsteps to catch up to them, but as the two were out of the classroom suddenly the door slammed behind them right in Yeonjun's face... and then Yeonjun heard the key turn in the lock. He gasped and grabbed the handle, desperately trying to open the door.
'NO!! You can't do this!!' he shouted and banged his fists on the door. It was indeed locked.
'Don't worry, once Soobin realizes that he was stood up, we'll inform him about your whereabouts... or not' he heard San's voice from outside, then footsteps were getting further away until he couldn't hear them anymore.
'No...' whispered Yeonjun in defeat as he slid down against the door with tears in his eyes.
Does he really not deserve a happy ending?
.
A/N 2.0: I'm being a dramatic bitch here, but no worries, if Cinderella made it out somehow when the stepmother locked her up not to be able to try the shoe on, maybe Yeonjun will escape too :))
See you next Sunday, and pray for me and for my exams and sanity lol
