The soundcheck ended smoothly. They called their stylist and asked to fix Jisung's jacket and they said it should be done by tomorrow since they were busy with the concert outfits already. It wasn't that important anyway, Jisung found a different outfit to wear. And the outfit was nice, unlike Minho's comments on his previous one.
The group walked backstage and immediately dropped their act of looking still full of energy. Even the soundchecks were exhausting but they love what they do, they wouldn't change it for anything.
"That was great, boys! Now all you have to do is do just as great for the real thing," a man who was in charge of this soundcheck said. He then walked away to continue doing his job with some of the other workers.
Jisung was drinking water from the bottle he was given the second he stepped backstage. He rested on one of the couches along with others but stayed silent and listened to their conversation.
"I'm telling you! I almost slipped there! Why was it even wet in the first place? It's not like we had any water bottles next to me," Jeongin talked and took off the guitar strap from over his head to place the bass guitar next to him.
"I..erm...I accidentally spilled some water there before the soundcheck started," Minho said, looking a bit embarrassed.
"What?! Why, how, why didn't you say anything?"
"I don't know, I was just drinking water to clear my throat and then tripped over your guitar wire and spilled some water there. I didn't tell anyone because I hoped no one would notice um...sorry." Minho scratched the back of his neck.
Jisung observed them since he had nothing better to do. His phone was hiding somewhere from him. It probably got tired of being used all the time. Or maybe the make-up stylists took it somewhere as he always forgets it.
"It's okay, as long as it isn't an attempted murder I'll forgive you," Jeongin replied and sent him a smile which was returned. While Jisung held himself from saying something he shouldn't.
"This reminds me. We should ask the staff to put some water bottles on the stage but not near the wires," Chan said and sent Minho a short glare. "We usually have them but I noticed there were none this time. I'll go tell someone. Don't wander off anywhere." He stood up and left.
Jisung was about to go search for his phone, in other words, wander off somewhere, but stayed put when Minho pulled out some papers from his bag. He couldn't see what they were but he could guess they were music sheets or lyric sheets. It wasn't unusual for them to carry those like it was the most interesting and important thing in the world. But the way Minho held them looked unusual. It was as if he didn't want anyone to see them.
"Are you holding a treasure map there?" Jisung said and caught Minho's attention who placed the papers on his lap facedown, trying to act subtle.
"And if I was? Would you join me in searching for it?" he replied with a curious look. His fingers played with the corners of one of the papers and curled them, leaving the paper to be forever not straight.
Jisung thought of playing along with the conversation since he had nothing better to do other than boringly search for his phone that he wouldn't even be able to use. They have to go on stage soon anyway.
"What would the treasure be? I have to know if it'd be worth my time or not," Jisung said with a simple shrug.
"The treasure is a key."
"A key? To what?" Jisung frowned.
"Your heart." Minho winked at him and sent him an air kiss. Whatever he was trying to pull totally didn't work as Jisung groaned and covered his face in annoyance.
