A Second Chance (Jenlisa)

Chapter Thirteen

The following morning Lisa woke up early. She had many things to do at work but she canceled all the meetings she had. Nothing was more important to her than meet her son.

She was nervous and excited at the same time. She was also excited that she was going to see a certain brunette girl as well.

Lisa looked at the time; it was barely 8:00am. She still had four hours until she could meet her son. What was she going to do? She didn't know what to do, the only thing she could think was to go out for a run. Maybe that would help her calm her nerves.

She went out for a run and after some time she decided to come back home and work out. After her work out she answered a couple phone calls and emails. When it was time to get ready, she jumped in the showered and got ready.

After getting ready and trying multiple outfits, Lisa finally decided on what to wear. She got everything she needed and headed toward the restaurant Jennie had told her.

Jennie woke up before her alarm went off, she didn't have much sleep last night because she couldn't stop tossing and turning.

Jennie stayed in bed for some time, staring at the ceiling thinking on the many scenarios that could happen. Was Lisa going to be rude and fight with her? Was she going to be nice? Was she going to try to fight for custody? Those were the many questions Jennie had in her mind. But the most important question that she kept on asking herself was, how was Henry going to react to all this.

She got up and decided to take a long shower to forget about at this. She was just going to not stress about it. After she got out of the shower, she got dressed and went to Henry's room. She started giving him kisses and caressing his back, that's how she always woke him up.

A small pair of brown eyes looked at her and smiled.

"Mama"

"Good morning baby. Did you sleep well?" Henry stretched a bit.

"Yeah" Jennie sat on Henry's bed next to him.

"Baby, there's something I want to talk to you about"

"Bout what mama?" Henry looked at her attentively. Even though he was only three and a half, he was still very mature for his age. Jennie took a long breath and looked at him.

"Do you remember how Chelsea, the girl from your school?" Henry nodded "You know she has two moms right?"

"Yeah, they nice"

"Well, I wanted to tell you that... You also have two moms baby" Jennie said caressing his hair. Jennie was scared of how he was to take that statement.

"Where'sh my other mommy?"

"Well... you're going to meet her today honey"

"I am?" Henry said a bit enthuse

"Yeah Honey, her name is Lisa. Look, this is her" Jennie showed him a photo album she had since she was married to Lisa. She turned the pages showing Henry the pictures.

"That'sh mama?"

"Yeah honey, that's her. Look, this is one of the first pictures we took together. And this is when we got married" Jennie couldn't help remember all those memories she had of her and Lisa. After all these years, she still remembered like it was yesterday.

Jennie got Henry ready and gave him something small to hold him over until lunchtime. After feeding him, Jennie watched TV with Henry and played with him until it was time to leave.

"Ok honey, let's go. It's time to go meet your mommy Lisa" They got everything they needed and left the apartment.

Once they arrived at the restaurant, Jennie couldn't help to start feeling nervous. She grabbed Henry's hand and walked inside. She spotted a gorgeous woman sitting at a table. They walked to the table and were greeted by Lisa who stood up right away as soon as she saw them.

"Hi" Lisa said a bit shy when she saw Henry who just kept looking at her.

"Henry, this is Lisa, your mom" Henry looked at her once again, hiding behind Jennie's leg. "Say hi baby"

"Hi" Henry said shyly

"Hi Jennie" Lisa said looking a Jennie

"Hi Lisa" Jennie said, looked at her for a bit then looking away before getting lost in those eyes

"I got something for Henry, hope you don't mind" Lisa said as she grabbed a gift bag and placed it on the table.

"Look baby, it's for you" Henry peeked a bit looking at the bag.

"I think you're going like it" Lisa said smiling. Henry looked at her for a second and hid behind Jennie once again. "I mean, if you don't want it, I can take it back"

"No" Henry said. Lisa smiled and gave him the bag. Henry took the paper and grabbed a pulled a fire truck and police car out of the bag. He smiled enthusiastically at Jennie.

"You like them baby?" Henry nodded and started playing with the toys. "What do you say baby?"

"Thank you" Henry said to Lisa giving her a small smile. Lisa felt a warmth in her heart when she received that small gesture from him.

"Thank you Lisa, you didn't have to do that" Jennie said looking at Lisa who was looking at Henry trying to study his features and mannerisms.

"No, need to say thank you, that's the least I can do. After being absent in his life all these years"

Jennie didn't say anything else, she just watched Henry play and interact with Lisa. She felt guilty not telling her. She felt bad having Lisa miss seeing Henry take his first step, or say his first word. But Jennie was hurt by what she had done. Jennie still thinks about how things would have turned out if Lisa hadn't cheated on her.

Jennie had moved on, she let got off the anger and hurt she had towards Lisa when she cheated on her. All that was in the past, what she needed to do now was to figure out how she was going to co-parent with Lisa.

After lunch they went to go get some ice cream. Jennie was surprised how quick Henry was bonding with Lisa. Jennie felt a relief noticing how easy Henry was taking this.

As usual, Henry wanted to go to the park. Lisa spent some time playing with Henry at the playground, but once Henry found some friends she could play with, she decided to go sit with Jennie at the bench that was near the playground.

"Is it ok if I take a seat?"

"Yeah, or course" Jennie scooted to the side giving Lisa some room to sit.

"He has so much energy" Lisa said looking at Henry play

"Yeah, he does. He loves playing outdoors. It's a blessing that he doesn't want to be just playing on a tablet or watching TV all day"

"He's such a sweet boy" Lisa said watching Henry play. Jennie watched Henry play in silence for some time. She finally decided to break the silence.

"So, what are you planning to do Lisa? Do you really want to be part of his life?"

"Of course, if you let me of course"

"I just don't want him to get hurt. I don't want him to get used to you and then just leave without saying anything. That's why it took me some time to introduce him to Mark" Lisa rolled her eyes when she heard that name.

"I'm not going to just take off Jennie. I really want to be park of his life. He's my son"

"I know" Jennie said looking down. "Well, now that is settled, we can maybe schedule some time for you to spend time with him"

"I'd love to" Lisa have her a small smile, admiring Jennie's eyes. "Jennie, I was hoping we could talk some time. You know, about what happened. I don't think we ever really had the chance to talk"

"What do you need to say Lisa, there's really not much we can talk about that"

"Just hear me out, please" Lisa said giving her a pleading look. Just sighted giving up.

"Ok, say what you what to say..." Lisa took a deep breath after a few seconds of silence.

"I want to apologize over what happened, I really sorry about cheating on you. We both know that we weren't in a good spot. We were fighting a lot and I felt alone. I was stressing out, a lot. I didn't really know how to deal with all that. Let's not even talk about the many times we tried to have a baby and the many negative tests we got. It was just too much for me. I regret everything that happened, especially the cheating" the last sentence, Lisa said with a broken voice.

Jennie didn't say anything; she just looked away trying to hide the tears that were about to come out. Hearing all that made her remember everything that happened in the past. She remembered clearly when she found out that Lisa was cheating on her. Jennie cleared her throat and finally looked at her.

"Why, why the cheating Lisa? What did I do wrong that made you cheat on me? Was I not good for you? What did she give you that I wasn't giving you already?" Jennie said wiping her tears already. Lisa looked up at the sky trying to hold her tears.

"It wasn't any of that Jennie, I... I simply was going through a lot. Rosé saw that and she took advantage of the situation. But it was all a mistake. I would do anything to take it back"

"We'll it didn't seem like a mistake after you guys got together just a couple months after we got divorced"

"We weren't together"

"That's not what the media said. You guys were everywhere. 'The New Power Couple' those headlines where everywhere

"It was just all a business strategy, that was it"

"Well, it's not like it matters anymore. You can do whatever you want with your life"

"I'm sorry again Jen, I wish things would've been different"

"Yeah, I'm sorry too" Jennie got up. "We should get going, it's getting late"

"Can I take you guys home?" Lisa said getting up as well. Jennie was going to say no. She needed to be alone. There was a lot going on her mind.

"It's ok Lisa, you don't have to"

"When can I see you guys again? I mean, when can I see Henry again?"

"I'll let you know, maybe next weekend"

"Ok, I'll see you guys soon" Lisa smiled at her. After saying bye to Henry, she watched them leave.

Lisa wanted Jennie back; she wanted to be a family with her and Henry. That's all she had wanted for a long time. She was going to do anything in her power to fulfill that.

Happy New Year!!! I really hope you guys had an amazing year this past year. I wanna say thank you to everyone who've read this story so far. I had many stories in my mind that I wanted to come to life, I finally got the courage to write something and post it. I know I'm no the greatest at writing and there are better stories out there.

But I just want to say thank you for sticking with me for these couple months. This year I will try to update more than once a week.

I also hope that there is a bit more interaction from you guys. I wanna know what you guys think and let me know how you like the story or what other types of stories you would want to read.
