Everyone had been caught of guard by the news Andrew gave them. Danielle was not expecting to hear what he had said, let alone Jennie. Jennie felt how her eyes starting getting watery and she also felt her chest beginning to tighten. She wanted to say something, she wanted to curse Lisa our, or tell Danielle that what was happening was not fair and that it shouldn't have happened. But the knot she had on her throat, didn't allow her say a single thing. Jennie looked at Danielle feeling a few tears falling down, trying to get some answers from the lawyer.
"I don't understand what just happened. We already had an agreement, we agreed on getting everything taken care of today. I don't understand what game Lisa is playing" Danielle said running her hand through her hair stressed out.
"How is it possible that this happened Danielle? I thought we didn't have to keep going with this stupid game" Jennie said letting out a frustrated sigh.
"I know Jennie, but this is how things are to be honest. When it comes to child custody, things can change from one second to another. But believe me that I will do everything I can to win. This is not the first time something like this happens"
"I can't believe how stupid I was thinking that it was a great idea to let her into his life. All I wanted was for him to know his mom. I don't understand how much Lisa has changed."
"That's how parents are when it comes to wanting to spend time with their kids. They'll do anything they can to get what they want."
After getting some things in order, Jennie went home with Mark. She kept looking through the window aimlessly, lost in her thoughts. No matter what Mark did to cheer her up, it was impossible. But of course, how can someone be ok after everything that just happened. Jennie's emotions were like a tornado. She would be calm one second, and then would be angry and that anger would turn into sadness. It was too much for her.
Jennie didn't know hoe much longer she could handle this situation. She wanted to wake up from the nightmare she was, because that's what it was, a fucking nightmare.
The following weeks, Jennie avoided Lisa at all cost. They still had the same agreement as before. Lisa was still upset that she could only see Henry every other weekend. When it came to picking and dropping Henry off, Lisa would deal with Mark. Jennie didn't want to see her nor talk to her. Lisa was of course angry that she had to deal with him and not Jennie.
Danielle sent out a letter to the court to have the audience as soon as possible. That way Lisa and her lawyers wouldn't get more time to plan their scheme.
Jennie walked into the courtroom holding Marks hand. They sat down next to Danielle as se went over some last minute things with them. Lisa walked him with Andrew and her eyes clashed with the brunette one's for a few seconds.
They waited a few minutes until the judged stepped into the courtroom. Everything started the same way as all court hearings started. The judge would talk about how important it is for families to come into an agreement and that everything was about the children's best interest.
Danielle gave her stamen as well as Andrew. The judge listened carefully as he went over some paperwork. Danielle told the judge how Jennie deserved to have the majority of Henry's custody because Jennie had been part of Henry's life since he was born and how she was the only one who raised him.
Andrew, on the other hand, he suggested that it was in Henry's best interest to spend equal time with both parents. Andrew mentioned how it was important for Lisa to make up lost time with her son.
"Ms. Manobal" The judge asked. "Do you love your son?"
"Yes your honor" Lisa said standing up along with Andrew.
"You want what's best for your son right?" Lisa answered once again. "So the only important person in this situation is your son right. Ms. Kim comes second right? The priority is that you spend time with your son and see him grown up. Raise him to be a good citizen and give him a great example right?"
"Yes your honor..."
"Then answer this, if you want to give your son a great example, then why are you using your status to intimidate Ms. Kim?"
"Excuse me your honor?" Andrew asked confused as he looked at Lisa trying to understand what was happening.
"There are records and camera recordings that you went to go see Ms. Kim at her job and spoke to her under false pretenses. You not only lure her in to speaking to you by making her believe you were someone else so she could speak to you, but you also tried to intimidate her and come up with an agreement."
"Yes, that is true your honor... but I was only trying to have a civilized adult conversation" Andrew looked down, knowing that Lisa's statement was digging a bigger whole.
"I understand that Ms. Manobal, but understand that when lawyers are involved, the lawyers have to be the ones who handle stuff, there's no need for you to try to fix the situation. I understand that you want to be involved in your son's life, but that is not how things are done. You both need to understand that you need to put each other's differences aside and do what's best for your son. That said, this is what is going to happen."
Jennie felt her heart beating fast and her arms started to get clammy.
"You both want what is best for your son, both of you want to spend time with him equally. After reviewing all the documents presented to me, I see that what is best in Henry's interest is that he should spend time with both parents equally. But after what Ms. Manobal did by trying to intimidate Ms. Kim, Ms. Kim will have 60 percent of Henry's custody, as far as Ms. Manobal, she will have 40 percent. For the next six months, Henry will spend time with Ms. Kim from Sunday afternoon until Friday night. Ms. Manobal will have him from Friday night until Sunday afternoon. Ms. Kim will also have him one weekend out of the month; this can be at the beginning or at the end of the month, however you guys want to do it. Six months from now will have another hearing to see if things are working out or not."
Hearing the following information was bittersweet for Jennie, she was sad that she had to allow Lisa to spend all that time with him. But she was relieved that all this was over. Jennie didn't expect to have to share her son all those days. But she was happy that this was a better agreement than Danielle's previous proposals.
Once everything was over, everyone left. Lisa was upset about what she had done, she was angry with her self for letting her emotions get the best of her. She had no choice but do deal with the agreement.
Jennie and Mark stopped by Jisoo's place to pick up Henry. They decided to have dinner with them to celebrate their victory.
Now that everything was settled legally, Jennie couldn't help to think of how the situation was going to be with Lisa. Will they be able to co-parent without any issues, would they continue fighting? Those were the many questions Jennie asked herself, but she wasn't going to let that bring her mood down.
Jennie decided that she was going to not stress out anymore, she was tired of not being able to sleep at night and having anxiety attacks. She wanted things to go back to normal.
