A Second Chance (Jenlisa)

Chapter Eight

Jennie's POV

I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing. No matter what I tried to do, I couldn't even breathe. As much as I tried to do the breathing exercises to control my anxiety, I just couldn't. I couldn't do anything, but look at her. I got lost on those beautiful brown orbs. After all these years, I couldn't resist those eyes. She looked different; she no longer had light brown hair. She had long black hair with those killer bangs I loved. Her workout outfit fit her well, it showed off her thin figure. I was brought to reality when I felt a small tug on my pants and heard his voice.

"Who's that mommy?"

"No... it's no one honey, let's... let's go" I broke eye contact with her and grabbed Henry by the hand and left the area as quickly as I could. I was in fight or flight mode, the objective was to get out of there. Once we were far from the park I felt my breathing getting back to normal.

After getting home I gave Henry a bath and we had dinner together. Once I was done I spent time with him and got him ready for bed. After reading him a bedtime story I went to my own room and tried to get some sleep. But that was easier said than done, I last track of how many times I kept tossing and turning and I still couldn't sleep. I couldn't get that image out of my mind. I couldn't forget about those brown eyes looking at me in shock. How was it possibly that after all these years I still felt a pain on my chest.

Maybe it was all in my head, maybe I just imagined her. There was no way that she was back in New York. Last that I heard she was going back and forth between Seoul and Bangkok. Yeah, there was no way she was back. I forced myself to somehow get some sleep, just went I was getting some good sleep my alarm decided to go off.

I let out a frustrated grunt and looked at the time. I could hit snooze and sleep 10 more minutes, but I didn't want to risk not waking up. I got up annoyed and went to go check on Henry. My mood completely change and that beautiful sight. He was still sleep soundly hugging his favorite dinosaur. I gave him a tender kiss on the forehead without waking him up and headed back to take a shower.

After taking a quick shower and getting ready for the day, I went to Henry's room and got him ready for daycare. I fed him breakfast and the dropped him off. On my way to work my phone rang, it was Jisoo.

"Good morning Unnie"

"Good morning Jendukie, just wanted to call you to remind you about the baby shower this weekend. I know you're so busy, that's why I'm reminding you" I laughed when I heard that.

"You know we won't miss it Unnie"

"Yeah, of course you guys will not miss it. Because if you do, your future niece and I will be so upset"

"Don't worry about it Unnie, we'll see you on the weekend"

I was impressed how quickly he has gotten used to going to daycare. My baby was growing. Couldn't help it getting a bit sad. After saying bye to Henry I headed to work. I had a couple meetings and saw a couple patients, which made my day go by quick. I grabbed my things and went to pick up Henry.

The weekend finally came and Henry and I headed to Jisoo and her husband's place for the baby shower. It was something small, just close friends and both Jisoo's and her husband's families.

Seeing how happy Jisoo was and how much of a great time everyone was having reminded me of when in had my baby shower. Babies are a true blessing, always bringing families together. After a few games and the gift opening, Henry and I headed home. Once we got home, I got Henry ready for bed and as I was gonna start reading him a book, my phone rang

"Mark is calling baby" I answered the call and let Henry answered "Say hi baby"

"Hi Mahk!" He smiled through the camera

"Hey buddy how are you?"

"Good! How you?"

"I'm doing good, thanks for asking. How's mommy doing?" I smiled and got close to the phone.

"Good, getting Henry ready for bed"

"Aww, I miss bedtime stories. Maybe soon I can visit you guys"

"Yeah, that'd be great" I smiled and Mark talked with Henry for a bit more. Once I got Henry in bed, Mark and I talked for a bit more. I was exhausted from the long week of work so it didn't take much for me to fall asleep.

Things at work were going great. I loved how things were going both on the management spot as well as seeing my patients. Things with Henry were going great and as far as my social life I would go out with some work friends every once in a while. I was still keeping touch with Mark, we would talk regularly but sometimes our schedules and time difference would make things difficult to talk.

One day I just had gotten out of a meeting. My assistant told me that I had a last minute walk in, which I was already 10 minutes late for. I gather my things from the conference room and headed towards my office. I walked in and closed the door behind me.

"I'm so sorry for the delayed, I'm Jennie Ki..." I couldn't finish the sentence when I saw that person. This can't be happening, how is it possible? "What... what are you doing here?"
