Austin's POV
"We caught two of the demons, alpha." One of my hunters states
"Where are they?" I ask
"In the basement of the pack house." The other hunter says
I nod my head before going upstairs and changing into a plain t-shirt and put on a pair of jeans before Maxine came in.
"Austin, what's going on?" She asked. I could tell she was a little pissed and confused.
"They found two demons on our territory." I say
"Just go..." Maxine mumbles as she stomps out
I really don't know why she's pissed. At least I'm not like the allied pack's alphas. No time is spent on their families but here I am trying to figure out why my mate is bitching.
I go downstairs to see my family in the living room with Maxine.
"I'll be back." I say from the doorway
I didn't get a response so I just walked out the door and on the drive way that carried me deeper into the woods to the pack house.
"Alpha." I hear a hunter call as I walk in.
I nod before walking downstairs to the basement, down a hallway that led to a big room with cells we used as our own interrogation/holding cell. Tied up to the chairs in the interrogation room was two pale beings; one with long black hair, the other without hair but both with matching long nails.
I walk up to the one with long hair and rip some of it out, making him scream.
"Why are you on my territory!" I yell as my deep voice bounces around the room.
"We were just taking a stroll...while looking at your fertile lover..." The bald demon says
I'm not wasting my time on them anymore so I simply give the hunters a thumbs down meaning to kill them before walking out. I walk slowly to the house because I don't know what's wrong with Maxine.
I make my way inside my house and no one is downstairs so I go upstairs to see Maxine trying to put Xavier to bed.
"Mommy, no! I don't want to go!" Xavier says
"Well you need rest." I say
Xavier looks down before Maxine gives him a kiss before putting him down.
"Night Xavier." I say as I walk out to Samantha's room.
"Night Sam." I say as I kiss her forehead
"Night daddy." Sam says
"Hey daddy?" Samantha asks
"Yes?" I say
"Why are people so mean about what you are?" Samantha asks
That was a little hard to answer, it caught me off guard.
"Because, people are ignorant." I answer
"What's ignorant?" Sam asks
"When people refuse to care about something." I smile softly
"Oh.." She said
"Night, be ignorant to those who judge you." I advise
"Yes daddy, night" Sam says as I close her door.
I walk to Victoria's room to see her sleep already so I kiss her forehead and close her door. Little diva needed rest, if I did what she did I would be tired too and I'm an alpha.
I chuckle before making my way to the room I share with my mate to see her with no lights on, playing on her phone.
"So, are you still mad at me?" I ask
I didn't get an answer back as she continued on her phone.
I stripped and walked to the bathroom to take care of my business before getting into bed.
"Maxine" I say
She continued to ignore me, making me agitated so I turn on the lamp and pulled her on top of me.
"What did I do?" I ask softly
Maxine sighs and puts her forehead on my chest. "Why couldn't you handle that in the morning? Once you went upstairs to throw on clothes you know all three of your children were worrying me about the demons? And you knew we still had that big talk with the kids." Maxine says
"I thought I should take care of it at the moment. I want to prevent anything that pose as a threat as soon as possible." I say while stroking her wild curly hair
"But they caught them so couldn't it at least wait until the kids aren't around?" Maxine asks
"But you remember what happened last time with Lauren. I'm not taking any second chances." I say
Maxine just sighs and traces a finger along my abs.
"I don't think we should have any more kids for a while." Maxine says
Why didn't she not want anymore? We talked about it plenty of times. Once Xavier gets old enough to talk we'll have another one.
"Why?" I ask
"Because you already have a son to become Alpha and the girls will probably go away." She states
"Baby, you need to relax. We need another boy because if Xavier isn't fit we can put another one in and the family can keep going." I say
"But I thought you were already training Xavier." Maxine states
"Yes but again, he might not be fit for Alpha. We don't know yet." I say
She doesn't say anything and I know she thinks three is enough but we keep trying until we have two boys. I don't want to put her under pressure about the situation but we can only wait for so long.
"I love you." I say
"Love you too." Maxine smiles before kissing me.
I smile back as I pull her closer. She sits up and rest her hands on my chest.
"I'll try." Maxine says
"We don't have to try now but I won't complain." I smile
I reach up and stroke her face before I let my hands travel down to her breast and cup them earning me a gasp. I sit up to and kiss her again as she starts grinding on my tent occupying my boxers. I flipped us over abd slipped of her panties.
"You think they ever heard us?" Maxine asks
"I don't think so."
