"This shouldn't be too hard...right?"

But my reflection on mirror of the company walls mocks me.

I walk through the glass doors and head straight to the reception, ignoring the eyes of the woman sitting down in the lounge. I walk up to the woman at the front desk and greet her.

"Goodmorning-"

"Goodmorning do you have an appointment?"

'Shit, I completely forgot this guy was famous'

"Uhh well no but I'm here to see mister S/n? If you could just call to tell him-"

"I'm sorry ma'am, but no appointment, no approval" i sigh and walk away but sit down at the lounge by the lady from earlier who I noticed. She looked neat and yet more causal than the people here. I liked her vibes, like she was here to enjoy her work comfortably. She had a short brown dyed afro that went with her dark skin.

"You looking for S/n?" She asked.

"Yeah, I just wanted to apologize to him about something that happened yesterday" she makes a sort of face .

"Something that happened yesterday? Were you the one who insulted Circle Souls?" The twist in my stomach worsens.

"Uh yes that was me"

"You're y/n?"

"Yes....."

"Great to finally meet you. Follow me" she gets up from the couch and heads straight to the elevators, suprisingly no one stops me this time which puzzles me.

"Oh! Right, so I'm Lidia. S/n's assistant" she seemed like someone he'd hire. Bubbly, energetic, an observer and patient.

'Oh great so he was probably ranting all sorts of horrible things about me to his assistant"

I should feel better now that I'm getting the chance to see him but I was starting to just now be relieved I was denied access.

"This way girl"  she leads me into an elevator which takes us into what now looks like a penthouse instead of an office building? Did something change or was this what he wanted people to think?
The place was extremely large, ceiling to floor window, with wooden cut in pattern floors and a wide range of furniture.

The further we went into the place the more I could now see a rather large painting set up in the middle of a large room with a tarp under the canvas on its stand. Looking lower to the legs of the canvas stand I see those same pants as before.

"S/n, y/n is here"

"Thanks Le, you can go" she turns to me with a smile before walking down the hall again.

There's a silence in the air far too thick with tension for me to breathe in. We're alone now but he makes no attempt to stop painting.

"I'm sorry" the sound of his brush pauses momentarily before it resumes in its path along the large surface.

"I brought apology cookies?" Saying the words out loud to him sounded childish and idiotic. Did I really except to move him with a bunch of cookies? His brush doesn't even take a moment to stop.

"Look S/n I'm sorry really I am. I was just overwhelmed by your painting. It just brought back old memories" his brush does take a pause this time but he still says nothing, like he's edging me to reveal more. Information for forgiveness.

"Your painting reminded me of someone I once had a story with"

"Had?"

"Yes...years back in Brooklyn, I parted ways with someone I once considered the love of my life. Though I was young I was certain it was him"
