11.The Boys

2011 started as always with a short break and more award shows. Some schedules in Japan and Korea were on the same day and we would fly back and forth to perform on two different shows in two different countries. The reason this was so important was we were the top group in Korea and we could not under any circumstances lose Japan to Kara.

Before I had always resented insane schedules but in 2011 the desire,fire and need to stay on the top seeped in and changed my personality.I could't be kicked out and nobody would miss me neither could Girls Generation be kicked out of the top spot.

We never had a day off but one day when we had a morning off in Korea I went out shopping with my roommate and sister Hyoyeon. She and I still were roommates while Jessica had moved in with Sooyoung. Now Seohyun was our roommate in the new dorm. I love shopping malls especially in winter when there is extra sparkle and golden stars for the holidays. After finding our expensive coats and hot matching shoes we decided to get some hot drinks before we returned home.

Getting privacy is all a matter of timing. Best time to go shopping is around 10 am , its often too early for teenagers to be up and going and families from outside the city usually haven't arrived yet. Shopping on a Tuesday before lunch rush is the best because the mall is mostly filled with rich housewives or women on maternal leave.Hyoyeon and I turn two corners and up the stairs so we are not immediately spotted by people coming in.

"I have been thinking about something" I say as I sip my hot chocolate.

"About what?" Hyoyeon ask.

"Do you remember that thing when we became like ambassadors for that new project where they were going to put up a building"

"Hah, which one?"She chuckles.

"What the hell is that? I mean they just need us to show up cut a ribbon and smile next to some old man for some project we never hear about again."
"It's for like publicity" Hyoyeon say and sips her drink.

"Yeah for them.Everybody wants us these days, I get why we would do a big commercial like Daum or the one we got now with Intel, but I don't know I just kinda feel a bit used."

"It's a bit unnecessary" She complains

"Exactly. We could use this time to rest and sleep or spend more time in the studio.

"I don't even know if we got paid.We need to look this up." I finish.

My brave heroine and I scoop up SM favorite and smart girl Sooyoung and arrange a mini meeting with one of the CEO:s. I knew the three of us would be the best to bring this up."I just feel like we are the nations girlgroup and we have been thinking we should get paid more now, it is an increase of course but we should be paid triple of what we got paid when we did CF (Commercial film)around our "Baby baby" promotions" I say.

"We have busy schedules and we feel like it's more motivating if we know we get what we deserve" Sooyoung say.

"We are not being greedy at all but we don't want to seem cheap, isnt it like a good thing to show Girls generation are more expensive than other girlgroups, it matches our image don't you think?" Hyoyeon say. Sooyong and I glance at each other like 'Damn did you hear that?'Hyoyeon is smarter than people think, so she may say 'Lets start a camp fight instead of camp fire' or Doobie doobie instead of Scooby doo but her heart is always in the right place and she is very quick to pick up on things. She is good at delivering matters with a big picture in mind.We had his attention now and he had not interrupted us.

"I hope better deals will come our way" I say and it's quiet.

"Ok I will bring this up with the others thank you for coming in girls"
