Today I received red roses. I was happy thinking they came from Nkosinathi only to find out they come from the stalker. He mentioned in his card that he also send me flowers before. Now I remember. I once received a bouquet of red roses with a weird poem. I took my phone and called Nkosinathi.
"Hey sunshine." Just listening to the sound of his voice made me tear up. Maybe I'm a crying baby but what am I supposed to do when I receive flowers with creepy messages inside the comfort of my own home?
"Nkosi…" I sobbed. I heard shuffling in the background.
"Asa are you okay? What's going on?" He was concerned and panicking.
"I received…a message from the stalker. He's watching me Nkosi."
"What does the message say?" He was now furious.
"I'll send you a picture."
"Asa maybe it's time you get a bodyguard. I can't have someone hurting you." He said. I wish he could just hold me. I feel safe in his arms.
"I don't know. Maybe I should take few days off. I'll be home if I stay at home for a couple of days." I'm lying to myself. I've read stories about what stalkers do to their victims and it's nothing you'll wish upon yourself. Most importantly they don't give up.
"I insist sunshine. Please let me take care of you." Well I can't refuse him anything.
"Fine. But I have to meet him first."
"You'll like him. He's my cousin actually." I didn't know that.
"Is it Sethu or Tools…or IJ?" It can't be IJ because he's his little brother.
"It's Luthuli, Nosipho and Nosibusiso's little brother." He explains.
"Okay. I'll meet you tomorrow. I love you Nkosi wam’."
"And I love you too my sunshine. Take care of yourself for me." I couldn't stop grinning. I don't want to hang up first.
"Now hang up."
"You're the one who called. It would be rude if I hang up. You hang up."
I giggled."No."
"Asa I'm trying to sleep. I have a long day tomorrow." He sounded amused.
"But you—" My phone was snatched from my hold by Chelsea.
"Bye brother-in-law." She hang up."There,I hang up." She threw the phone at me.
"Talk about an annoying brat." I rolled my eyes.
"I did both of you a favour. Goodnight sis." She forcefully kissed my cheek before getting inside the covers. I switched off the lights and also slept but not before praying for my safety.

I was inside Nkosinathi's office waiting for his cousin Luthuli. Speak of the devil and the devil shall appear. The door opened and the Luthuli guy walked in. He was light skinned and tall and had an athletic body.
"Hi. I hope I'm not late." He said to Nkosinathi who stood up and went to give him a hug and handshake.
"You're not. Man, this is the love of my life Asante Dlamini, sunshine this is my cousin Luthuli." Nkosi introduced us. I stood up and went to give him a quick hug.
"It's nice to meet you, Luthuli."
He flashed me a polite smile."Likewise." Does everyone in the family have perfect white teeth?
We all went to sit down as Nkosi gave Luthuli a summary of what his job is. He nodded most of the time and it made me realise that he's not a talker. Maybe that's why he makes a great body guard.
Believe me the idea of having a bodyguard is not appealing but if it means I get to stay safe then I'll have to make peace with it.
After meeting Luthuli,Nkosi gave me a half day. Perks of dating the boss himself. Luthuli accompanied me to the parking lot where Nkosinathi's car was. Luthuli is going to drive me home then he'll return Nkosi's car.
I don't know who it was or where they came from but someone hit me with a steel or something behind my head repeatedly when I was trying to open my door. I don't remember much but Luthuli's voice calling out to me before I slipped into consciousness.
When I opened my eyes,my head was hurting and from the beeping noise,I was in a hospital. Someone was holding my hand and when I looked at the person it was Nkosinathi. He fell asleep while waiting for me to wake up.
"Nko…" I cleared my throat."Nkosi." I shook him and he quickly opened his eyes and looked around.
"Sunshine? Are you okay?" He brought my hand to his lips and kissed it.
"I'm okay. Why didn't you go home to sleep?" I question him.
"I couldn't sleep without seeing your pretty smile." I gave him a smile and he returned it.
"How are you feeling?" He asked genuinely.
"My head is throbbing." I touched my head and found a bandage.
"I'm sorry I couldn't find whoever hurt you." He shouldn't apologize because it's not his fault.
"Nkosi it's not your fault." I squeezed his hand.
"I wish I could personally take care of you. It hurts me when you're going away from me and then things like this happens. You don't deserve any of this." He kissed my forehead and I sniffed his scent. His masculine scent.
"Can I stay with you?" I didn't expect this question from myself and so did he.
"You know as much as I would love that,I don't think your dad is going to agree." He's right but I'm not seventeen anymore.
"Did you tell any of them that I'm here?"
"I did. They were here but left and promised to come tomorrow. If I was not here, your dad would probably be here." I know him.
"I still want to stay with you."
"Talk to your dad first." I nod. A doctor came in and evaluated me before giving me painkillers which ended up making me fall asleep.
