The first thing I did when I opened my eyes in the morning was call at iNath. The same woman who called the other day answered.
"iNath here how can we help you?" She sounded professional. I admire the job of receptionists and their patience.
"This is Asante Dlamini, you called me the other day to offer me a job."
"Oh hey Miss Dlamini, yes I remember. Have you considered the offer perhaps?"
"I did. I would like to accept your offer." I was pretty much nervous but since it's on the phone I mustered my confidence.
"That's amazing. Believe me you won't regret working with us."
"I hope so. How soon can I start?"
"Anytime you want. Your contract is already drawn."
"Even today?" I looked at the time and it was quarter pass six.
"Yes. I'm expecting you by eight."
"Thank you so much. Have a great morning."
"I can't wait to meet you. Bye." She hung up. I love the receptionist already. She's friendly. I just hope it's not a facade but she's really friendly.
Let me get up I have a contract to sign. I went to the bathroom to take a bath then I made sure to braid my afro a little bit on the front and did my edges as Angie taught me back in high school. I wore my black pants and white crop shirt with my black wedges. I hope they would allow sneakers because I feel more comfortable in them. I'll have to ask for their dress code.
I took my handbag and walked to the kitchen where everyone was having breakfast.
"Someone is looking pretty. Where are you going?" Mom questioned.
"Morning to you too Mom. I took the job offer." I sat down on my chair.
"Really?" Angie dropped her spoon. I nodded."I'll drive you. Let me change." She ran to her bedroom before anybody could say anything.
"I'm happy you took time to sit down and think." Dad said.
"It was more like Angie forced her." Addy commented.
"Asa I told you to not let Angie bully you."
"Dad, Angie is not bullying me or forcing me to do anything. I've been contemplating about taking the offer. She was just the push I needed."
"If you say so. You look beautiful by the way. Like my mother." I've seen my late grandma's pictures and yeah I look like her. I just wish I had a chance to meet her.
"Thank you Dad."
Addy stood up."Family I have to love and leave you. Good luck on your first day at work."
"Thank you Addy." She kissed both mom and dad's cheeks and rushed out of the house.
"I also have to go." Chrisy stood up in his school uniform. He's only doing grade 10.
"I'll drop you off." Dad said and stood up as well. He came to give me a hug.
"If someone troubles you at work, come and tell me. I'll deal with them."
"Dad, I'm not a child anymore." I grinned. I love my dad.
"I know Cupcake." He kissed my forehead then kissed my mom on the lips and walked out.
"I'll see you two beautiful ladies later." Chrisy blew us kisses and followed dad out.
Angie came downstairs in a bumshort and a black crop shirt. Her natural hair was in curls. She was looking like a model she is. She's always pretty even after just waking up.
