Beatrix's POV

12/03/2015

Dear Diary,

Once upon a time, long, long ago, well more like 20 years ago, Belle married her Beast in front of 6,000 of their closest, personal friends. Must have been a big cake. Instead of a honeymoon, the Beast united all the kingdoms and got himself elected as the king of the United States of Auradon. He rounded up all the villains and sidekicks, the really interesting people, and he booted them off to the Isle of the Lost with a magical barrier to keep them there. It has no magic. No wi-fi. No way out.

Prince Ben and his twin sister Beatrix, AKA me, were getting fitted for their coronation. We were going to joint rule the kingdom of Auradon until one of us married into a different kingdom. It would probably be him. I didn't even have a boyfriend. We stood together, staring out the window to the Isle. Our parents, Belle and the Beast walked in. "How is it possible that you're gonna be crowned king next month?" The beast, my Dad, asked his son. "You're just a baby!" Belle, Mum, smiled at him.

"He's turning 16, dear." She said.

I turned to my father, "What about me?" I asked indignantly. My father always treats me like a child, even though I'm only 15 minutes younger than Ben. Dad laughed.

"Hey pops," Ben started, but he was cut off by Dad. "Still." The beast continued, "Sixteen is far too young to be crowned king. I didn't make a good decision until I was 42." Mum looked shocked. "You married me at 28!" She hit him with a tea towel.

"It was either you or a teapot." He joked. Ben chuckled. I held back a smile.

"Mum, dad," Ben stepped forward. His tailor pulled him back. Ben smiled. He had forgotten he was being fitted. I hadn't, but of course, no one noticed that. He continued. "I've chosen my first official proclamation." I glared at him. Ben babies me as well. "With help from Bea, of course. I've decided that the children on the Isle of the Lost be given a chance to live here in Auradon." Our parents looked shocked. I continued for Ben. "Every time we look out to the island, we feel like they've been abandoned." Dad looked at us.

"The kids of our sworn enemies? Living among us?" He shook his head, but we weren't finished.

"We'll just start out with a few at first, only the ones who need our help the most. I've - we've - already chosen them." Said Ben.

"Have you?" Inquired Dad threateningly. Mum looked at him.

"I gave you a second chance!" She said. Then she looked at Ben. "Who are their parents?" She enquired. Ben took a deep breath. Our parents wouldn't like this.

"Cruella de Vil," He started, "Jafar, the Evil Queen," He paused. I took over. "There's also the children of Dr Facilier, Scar, Captain Hook, and Maleficent," Mum screamed. I felt bad for shaking them, but this needed to happen. For the sake of those poor kids.

"MALEFICENT!" said Dad. "She's the worst villain in the land!"

"Dad, just hear us out here," said Ben, but our father was still speaking.

"I won't hear of it!" He roared. "They are guilty of unspeakable crimes."

"But Dad, their children are innocent!" I protested. "Don't you think they deserve a shot at a normal life? Dad?" Dad looked at Mum. She arched an eyebrow. He sighed.

"Fine. I suppose their children are innocent." Then he turned and stalked out of the room. Mum turned to Ben and me.

"Well... Well done, "she said. Then she left too. Ben turned and stared out the window again. I turned too.
