Fredrick's POV

We were there. At the museum. I wished I could have just stayed home and finished unpacking. I had a lot of stuff to unpack. Now, thanks to Mal, all of my means of contacting my little sister, Celia, were at home too. My friends don't know, but that's what most of my 'fortune-telling' gadgets do.

"Come on, E!" whisper-shouted Mal, in her bossy tone. "Check your mirror!" Evie looked confused.

"Why?" She asked, "Is my mascara smudged?" I mentally facepalmed. Evie was so vain sometimes.

"Yeah," Mal said sarcastically, "And while you're at it, why don't you see if you can find us the wand?"

"Sure,"  Said Evie. "This way." She led us around the building to the door. I sighed. Surely they could have known we had to go in the only door? Unfortunately for us though, there was a guard at the door. I had also expected something like this. The cards told me.

"Tha's your mother's spinnin' wheel?" Hamish asked incredulously. He pointed to the dusty old spinning wheel near the desks. Carlos snorted.

"Yeah, it looks kinda dorky." He said. I disagreed. Most of my father's magical objects didn't look all that magical, but they were. I pointed this out.

"It's magic. It doesn't have to look scary." I said calmly. Mal flashed me a smile, then flipped through her spellbook.

"Magic spindle, do not linger, make my victim prick a finger." She said. When nothing happened, Hamish laughed and said, "Impressive," sarcastically. Carlos sniggered. "I got chills!"

Mal glared at the boys' immature behavior. "You know what?" She said impatiently, "Prick the finger, prick it deep. Send my enemy off to sleep." The guard rubbed his eyes and stood up. He touched his finger to the spindle of the spinning wheel and immediately fell into a deep sleep.

Mal smirked. "Not so dorky now, huh?" She glared jokingly at the boys. They tried to open the door, but it was locked. Jay, being his overconfident self, flexed his arms and said, "Stand back." He backed up, preparing to kick down the door. Too fast for him, Mal whispered a spell. "Make it fast, make it quick, open up without a kick." The doors flew open and Jay crashed to the floor. I helped him up and he growled at me.

We followed Evie through the maze of corridors. "So close." She whispered. "Upstairs." We followed her up. "Come on guys, almost there," Evie whispered. We came into a large chamber. But we must have taken a wrong turn because we the chamber we entered was filled with statues of history's worst villains. What I mean is, our parents. Maleficent. Evil Queen. Jafar. Captain Hook. Dr. Facilier. Cruella De Vil. Scar. We took a step back.

Carlos's POV

"Mommy?" Evie whispered. "Killer," Jay said.  "I'll never let you down," said Scarlette. I could tell Fredrick didn't care. His father loved him. But obviously, Hamish did, because Hamish was just staring at his father in hopelessness. I couldn't blame him. I mumbled, "I'll never forget Mother's Day again". Fredrick could sense all of our discomforts. He broke the awkward silence by saying, "The wand's not here. Let's bounce." I headed for the door.

They all followed me out, except Mal. Evie called for her, but she didn't follow. I guess she just needed some time alone. I couldn't blame her. We ran through the museum, looking for the wand. We found it, but then Scarlette realized Mal wasn't there. She took Evie to go get her.

When they returned, we walked up to the wand. We stared in awe. It was the third most magical object in the land. 2nd was Maleficent's scepter, and 1st was Hades's ember. But still. Jay ducked under the metal barrier that barred our way to the wand.

"Jay, don't!" Mal yelled. But it was too late. Jay made a grab for the wand. He was blasted away, and a loud screeching alarm sounded. "A force field and a siren?" I yelled. "Tha's just a li'le exessive!" Agreed Hamish. We ran back through the museum. Before we left, I grabbed the ringing phone and shut off the alarms. I assured them that it was a false alarm and left.

"Great job Jay." Sighed Scarlette, "Now we have to go to school tomorrow."
