I was bored out of my mind. I was sitting in a hot, stuffy classroom between Freddy, who was playing with his cards, and Mal, who was absent-mindedly drawing the Fairy Godmother's wand. It looked really good.
The Fairy Godmother herself was standing up the front of the classroom near a blackboard with this huge sloppy grin. I laughed inwardly. I stared across the classroom at Jay, Carlos, Evie, and Scarlette who were in the other row. Evie was doing her makeup and Jay had his feet on the table, one arm around Carlos and the other around Scarlette. For some reason, this made my insides clench with anger.
Fairy Godmother interrupted his train of thought. "If someone gives you a crying baby," She asked, pointing to the blackboard with a stick, "Do you... A, curse it? B, lock it in a tower? C, give it a bottle? Or D, carve out its heart?" Evie raised her hand. Fairy Godmother brightened.
"What was the second one?" Evie asked politely. "Oh, okay." Fairy Godmother sighed. "Anyone else? Mal?" Mal looked up briefly from her drawing to say, "C, give it a bottle." Fairy Godmother smiled. "Correct, again." I stared at her.
"You are on fire, girl!" I congratulated her. She shrugged. "Just pick the one that doesn't sound like any fun." She said as if it was obvious. Carlos and Jay looked at each other. "Ohhhh." They said. Evie giggled. "That makes so much sense."
Just then, a timid girl in a blue dress came in followed by the girl called Tracey. The timid squeaked as she ran past us in fright. I guess she doesn't like VKs. Tracey took a seat behind Scarlette and the boys. The girl ran up to the Fairy Godmother and pushed a clipboard into her hands while staring at us fearfully. I smirked and waved at her, causing her to widen her eyes in fright.
"You need to sign off for early dismissal for the coronation." The girl said hurriedly. The Fairy Godmother nodded. I thought it was usually the parent who signed those kinds of things, not the headmistress. "Everyone remembers my daughter, Jane?" She said. Now I understood. The girl, Jane, looked horrified. "Mom, no!" She hissed. Her mother just smiled sloppily. "It's okay. Jane, this is everyone."
Jane smiled fearfully. "Hi. That's okay, don't mind me, as you were." She squeaked and ran out of the room. I smirked at Mal. This girl could be used to get the wand. Then maybe my father would finally be proud enough of me to let me live with him and Harry. Fairy Godmother turned back to the class.
"Let's continue." She said. Then she noticed Tracey. "Oh Trace, nice of you to join us! Okay. You find a vial of poison! Do you... A, put it in the king's wine?" Evie put her hand up. Mal shook her head. Evie put her hand down. "B, paint it on an apple?" Scarlette discreetly pointed at Evie. I smirked. Tracey giggled. "Or C, turn it over to proper authorities?" I put my hand up. So did Carlos, Jay and Scarlette. Evie saw us put ours up and put hers up too. Only Freddy and Tracey didn't. He was too immersed in his cards. Tracey obviously didn't have to. Jay held Carlos and Scarlette's hands down. Carlos fought against him. Fairy Godmother pointed to Jay.
"C, You turn it over to proper authorities," He said smugly. "I was gonna say that," Carlos whined. "But I said it first! Come here!" Gloated Jay. He grabbed Carlos in a headlock and started to noogie him. "Come on, who said it first? who said it first?" He asked, climbing onto the desk. I covered my face with my hands in embarrassment.
Fairy Godmother rapped her pointing stick on the blackboard. "Boys!" She shouted. "I am going to encourage you to use that energy on the tourney field. I scoffed. As my brother Harry always said, tourney is a wee boy's game. I suppose my mate Gil didn't think that.
Carlos looked horrified at the idea of sports. "Oh, no thanks." He said quickly. "Whatever that is, we'll pass." Fairy Godmother just smiled and continued the lesson. When the bell rang, she sent us straight to our dorms. I was exhausted after our first day in Auradon, but I had to admit to myself that I was starting to like it here.
