Scarlette's POV

I walked down the hallway towards my locker, where Mal and Evie were. My mind was occupied by the upcoming test in History of Woodsmen and Pirates; and the fact that my father would kill me if he saw how much I smiled here.

I passed Chad and Audrey whispering to Ben while making faces at Mal and Evie. I hate Audrey. She's such a selfish, stuck-up little princess! And Chad... Oh, don't get me started on Chad. He is self-absorbed, spoiled, rude, and a player!

"Those kids are trouble." He whispered to Audrey as I passed by. I slowed to hear their conversation. Ben shook his head. "Come on Chad," He said, "Give them a chance." Audrey took his hands in hers. Ugh. She is so desperate for affection. "No offense Bennybear, but you're just too trusting." She said fake sweetly.

"Look, I know your mum fell in love with a big nasty beast who turned out to be a prince. But in my story, the evil fairy was just the evil fairy!" She side-eyed Mal. "That girl's mother." I was about to yell some curse words Maleficent would have been proud of when Ben said calmly, "I think you're wrong about them. I'll see you later."

Then Ben walked over to Mal. "Hey." He said. She shut her locker, which looked amazing since she had sprayed her mother's Long Live Evil logo on it. "Hey." She replied, smiling. "How was your first day?" Asked Ben. Evie, getting bored, left. "Super." Said Mal sarcastically. Ben looked at her painted locker. "Hey, you should take this talent off the locker and into art class," Ben suggested.

Just then, Jane walked past us, frightened. Mal and I looked at each other, thinking the same thing. If we could con Jane into not being afraid of us, then maybe she could get the wand off her mum! "Way to take all the fun out of it," I told Ben, before snickering to Mal and walking after Jane.

We found her in the bathroom, doing her makeup in the mirror. when she heard footsteps, she turned around and froze. "Hi!" Said Mal, acting friendly. "It's Jane, right? I always loved that name. Jane." She smiled at Jane. Jane laughed nervously the began to back out of the bathroom.

"Don't go!" I yelled at her. She froze, petrified. Mal glared at me, before tentatively approaching Jane. "I guess we were just kind of hoping to make a friend," Mal said, mock sadly. I caught on quickly. "You probably have all the friends you need though, right?" I asked her imploringly.

Jane scoffed. "Hardly." I stared at her in mock surprise. "Really? With your mum being Fairy Godmother and headmistress?" "Not to mention your own, um, personality!" Added Mal.

Jane smiled. "I'd rather be pretty. I mean," She looked at me, then Mal, "You've got great clothes, and you've got great hair." Mal grinned. "I have just the thing for that!" She cried. She took her spellbook out of her bag and flicked through the pages.

"Right... Here." She looked at Jane. "Beware, foreswear, change the old to new hair." she flicked her finger. Jane's hair grew longer, curling around her face. Wow. It was amazing what the new hair did to her!

"Do my nose!" Said Jane excitedly. Mal sighed. "Oh, I can't. I've been practicing, but I can't do really big magic yet. Not like your mum, with her wand." Hinted Mal, "I mean, one swoosh from that thing, and you could have any features you wanted!" Jane pouted. "She doesn't use the wand anymore. She believes the real magic is in the books. And not the spell books. Just the regular history books and stuff."

"What a rip." I snorted, earning another dirty look from Mal. But Jane just nodded. "You know, she used her magic on Cinderella, who wasn't even her real daughter. Doesn't she love you?" I asked sadly.

Jane smiled. "Well, of course she does. It's just... tough love. 'Work on the inside, not the outside.' You know, that kind of thing." She looked at the floor, sad.

"That's the face!" Yelled Mal. Jane and I both jumped. "Then, just look as if your heart's about to break." I caught on and added, "Then you say, 'Oh mother, I don't understand why you can't make me beautiful too."

Jane brightened. "You really think it would work?" She asked us. We nodded. "Yeah, I mean that's what old Cindy did right? And your mother bibbidy-bobbidy-booed the living daylights out of her." Said Mal. "And if your mother does decide to, you know break out the old wand," I added, "Invite us!" Jane nodded. "If I can convince Mum, you're so there!" Then she left the bathroom. I looked at Mal and grinned. "Fairy Godmother's wand, here we come."
