Colette walked away from her old house with the boxes of her belongings in her arms. She sighed and let a small tear fall, then proceeded to walk to find a taxi.
Colette walked into her new room and was pleased. She had an amazing view of New York as-well as lots of windows. It was small, cute but still a spacious apartment. She decided to go thank the owner at the front desk one more time before heading to bed. She truly appreciated all the man had done to fit her in so smoothly in such a short amount of time. As Colette was walking down the stairs towards the door she saw a familiar face. Micheal. The two noticed each other at the same time instantly smiling. "Colette! you live here now?" Micheal asks. "Yep moved in today" Colette responds smiling. "Wow It's a small world, I just got back from a meeting with Jeff he told me about your little date yesterday." Micheal grinned at her. "Oh he did?" Colette questioned in an embarrassed tone, blushing. "Yes he did, he talks about you 24/7" Micheal laughs. Colette has no words but to look down at her shoes and smile. "Anyway what room number are you?" Micheal changed the subject noticing she was flusted. "208" Colette responds "I'm 198" the man states. "Wow super close actually. It's nice to know a face around here." Colette says smiling at her new friend. "If you need anything feel free to stop by." Micheal tells the girl. "Of course, same goes for you Micheal. Goodnight!" Colette turns to go upstairs. Once she is in her room she realises that she didn't even go and thank the man at the counter so she quickly looks at the time on her watch to see if it's not to late. '9:17... Hmm probably best to get some good night sleep and have an early start to unpack tomorrow.' Colette thought deeply to herself.

Colette rushes down the steps and crashes into a person and tumbles down. "Oh I'm so sorry- Colette!" Micheal realises. "Oh hey Micheal it's fine don't worry" Colette shakes her short black skirt and stands up. "Oh! wait before you go, Jeff is super sick right now so he is probably not going to play tonight. He wanted me to tell you." Micheal stops the hurrying girl. "Is he okay?" Colette asks suddenly. "Yes he is fine, just really sick. Pretty sure he has the flu." Colette stops and thinks for a moment. "Do you mind giving me his adress, I would love to pop in and check on him." Colette asks Micheal. "Lovebirds... His address is 38 John street." Micheal tells the small girl. "Thanks!" Colette says while running out the door. 'Can't be late, can't be late!' Colette jogs in her black heels carrying her camera and purse around her shoulders.

Colette walks out the building in central New York, exhausted yet happy at how great her first day was. She took draft photos for her magazine and did some files. She walks to her local store and grabs some soup mixture aswell as some ice-cream hoping to surprise Jeff. Colette catches a cab and arrives at Jeff's apartment. She walks up the stairs and is about to knock when she hears Jeff strumming guitar. She smiles to herself and soon knocks. "One moment." She hears Jeff say as he walks up to the door. "Surprise!!!" Colette says happily. Jeff is shocked and then quickly smiles widely. "Colette! oh my gosh how did you find my place, come inside, wait no don't it's a mess!" Jeff soon freaks out. "Jeff it's fine. I ran into Micheal and he told me, I'm not a stalker I promise" Colette laughs lightly, she looks down to see Jeff without a shirt and comfy pyjama pants, she blushes and Jeff quickplay noticed. "Oh sorry" he stands behind the door slightly. "It's quite alright." Colette smiles. "Come in" Jeff says as she walks through the old wooden door. His apartment is similar to hers small but spacious, not super messy but not extremely clean. She turns around and jeff is putting on a loose red shirt, flowing behind her. He looks adorable but of course very sick. His eyes puffy and nose red. Colette frowns. "I'll look after you, please just go lay down" Colette says softly. She cooks a nice chicken soup and Jeff sits up on his couch as Colette hands it to him and she smiles. "Thank you Col" Jeff grins shortly before coughing. "It means a lot that you're here looking after me, your so sweet." He adds putting a hair behind her ear as he has done once before. "Of course Jeff" Colette responds. The two sit on the couch and watch tv as Jeff has his soup in his hand that his admirer made for him. "Are you sure you're okay sitting there, I would hate for you to catch the cold I have, its terrible." Jeff says concerned. "It'll be fine Jeff, don't worry" Colette tells the boy unbothered. Once Jeff is done Colette takes his bowl and cleans it for him aswell as handing him a tub of ice-cream that the two would share. Around 30 minutes later Colette and Jeff were sitting eating ice-cream, enjoying each other's company, on the comfy couch, watching tv. Colette starts humming softly. "What is that tune your humming, you seem to hum it all the time." Jeff notices. "I know it's over. A Smiths song." Colette smiles at the man before continuing humming. "Lovely" Jeff says. "Would you like to hear this random guitar riff for a new song?" Jeff asks "Of course, it would be an honor" Colette laughs slightly. Jeff plays a unique tune and Colette claps and smiles. "I love it" she says. Jeff flashes her a smile before putting down the guitar and coming back over to the couch, sitting next to her. "Are you finished with the ice cream?" Colette asks. "Yeah thanks, I can take it" Jeff replies. Before he could even stand up, Colette stands up and puts the ice cream in the freezer and walks back over to the couch where the two sat. An hour later Jeff is laying down on his side with Colette, playing with her black ribbon. Jeff is obviously taller so Colette reaches his chest. The two lay sideways watching MTV in a comfortable silence before Colette speaks up "I should probably start packing up, it must be getting late now" She informs the boy. She turns around on the couch to face him while still looking up at him, the two now very close to each other. "Must you go? your welcome to stay the night" Jeff's asks looking down into her eyes. "I don't know" Colette says. "You can sleep in my bed and I'll sleep down here on the couch" Jeff smiles. "If you insist, I don't want to be a burden. You're still sick of course you need a good sleep." The blushing girl tells him. "It'll be fine, let me get you spare clothes." Jeff walks away to his room and Colette sits up. She is a blushing mess and she doesn't know why... 'He's only being nice' She thought to herself. Just then, Jeff walks down empty handed. "Feel free to shower in my room, your spare clothes are on the bed okay?" Jeff asks walking over to the girl. "Thank you Jeff" Colette replies. Jeff grins and reaches a hand to help her up from the couch. He keeps hold of her hand as he navigates Colette to his room and when they arrive he turns around to face her "This is my room, I hope it's okay?" Jeff asks nervously. "Perfect" Colette replies with a smile and turns to face him. Jeff is leaning on the door frame. Colette stands on her tippy toes and kisses his check softly. "Thank you" she says "No problem" Jeff replies smiling with a soft blush on his face. She walks inside and Jeff closes the door behind him and walks back down to the living room. She jumps and smiles. 'He is the sweetest man!' she thinks to herself.
Colette shower's and walks out of the bathroom in her towel, she walks over to the bed and sees Jeff's clothes folded for her. She changes and looks down at herself and blushes. She's wearing a grey V-neck shirt and pj pants that are super long, touching the ground. She ties up the string around her waist to keep them on. She looks like she's wearing rags, Colette laughs to herself. Suddenly there's a knock at the door, "Come in" Colette speaks. "Hey I" Jeff stops mid sentence to see Colette with wet hair, no makeup, and in his pajama's. He blushes a red shade. "You look beautiful" Jeff tells the girl. "Oh thank you" the conversation drops as the two stare at each other. "Feeling better?" Colette sparks. "Yes, yes i am actually, the soup really helped" Jeff answers. "Just thought I would come in and say goodnight to you and thank you one more time for looking after me, it was a great surprise" The man informs. "Goodnight Colette" Jeff says once again. "Night Jeff, don't thank me, I'm happy to help always" She says before turning around and walking over to his black bed sheets. Jeff leaves and shuts the door.
Colette lays down in his comfy sheets, but can't sleep. Something is on her mind but she just doesn't know what. About an hour after Jeff and her last spoke she is still awake. 'I could go with a cup of water' she thought to herself. So she stands up out of the bed and tries to find the door, due to the lack of light. The only light source being the moon from the window. She walks to the kitchen which is connected to the living room, where Jeff was meant to be sleeping. Colette looks and doesn't see Jeff. So she looks around to see any site of him, her eyes scan and see him sitting on the window sill with a notebook on his lap, and a cigarette in his mouth. Colette is frozen, she grabs her camera that was placed on the kitchen counter from when she first arrived and snapped a picture of him. She could stand and stare at the picture for hours. Something rushed through her blood, a shiver went up her spine and her heart pounding, the only sound that could be heard. 'Was this what love feels like?' Colette thought to herself. Jeff suddenly looked up and turned to see Colette standing there. She quickly hid her camera behind her back. "Hey Colette, what are you doing awake, it's midnight?" Jeff asks. "I came down for a glass of water" Colette replied walking towards him. "What are you doing awake?" Colette asks now standing next to him. "I couldn't sleep, I was just writing some song lyrics that came to my head." Jeff answers her question. Colette looks down and reads a few sentences as best as she could, due to Jeff's ordinary hand writing.
'I'm lying in my bed
The blanket is warm
This body will never be safe from harm
Still feel your hair, black ribbons of coal
Touch my skin to keep me whole'
Her heart pounds out of her chest. She looks up and meets his eyes. She is frozen and doesn't know what to do. 'Could this be about me? Black ribbons of coal? Touch my skin to keep me whole?' Colette thought to herself, her mind running as fast as her heart, a million questions fills her head.
