- In Seoul High, where grades matter most, Kim Taehyung is the smartest kid. But things get tricky when he falls for Jeon Jungkook, the class's average guy. What Taehyung doesn't know is that Jungkook likes Taehyung's best friend. It turns into a me...
Jeon Jungkook groaned as he sprinted towards the school gates, his backpack bouncing heavily on his back. He was running late, as usual. He had woken up late and had to rush through his morning routine, only to realize that his alarm clock wasn't working. As a result, he missed his school bus and had to take the longer route to school.
He finally reached the school gates, panting heavily. The bell had already rung and he knew he was going to get scolded by his class teacher for being late. He quickly made his way to his classroom, trying to catch his breath.
As he entered the classroom, he saw his class teacher, Mrs. Lee, giving him a disapproving look. "Mr. Jeon, you are late," she said, her voice stern.
"I-I'm sorry, Mrs. Lee," Jungkook stammered, still trying to catch his breath.
Mrs. Lee sighed. "Just take your seat, but I'll have to mark you as late," she said, shaking her head. Jungkook nodded and quickly made his way to his seat, which was next to his bench partner, Cha Eunwoo. He took his seat and tried to calm himself down. But just as he was about to take his seat, his teacher stopped him.
Just as he was getting comfortable, Mrs. Lee announced that she would be giving out the English test report cards from the previous day. Jungkook's heart sank. He had completely forgotten about the test and he knew he was going to get a bad grade.
As Mrs. Lee started handing out the report cards, Jungkook could feel his palms getting sweaty. When his turn came, he hesitantly took the report card from Mrs. Lee's hand and opened it. His worst fears were confirmed when he saw the big red '3' written on the paper and then she said to Jungkook "I must say, I am extremely disappointed in your performance."
Jungkook's heart sank when by hearing the comments from his teacher. He had failed yet again in his weakest subject, English. He could hear some of his classmates snickering and mocking him, making him feel even worse.
Trying to hold back his tears, Jungkook quickly made his way to his seat. He sat next to his bench partner, Cha Eunwoo, who gave him a sympathetic pat on the back. Their other friends, Jimin and Lisa, also noticed Jungkook's distress and tried to console him.
"Don't worry, Jungkook. You'll do better next time," Jimin said reassuringly.
"Yeah, English is not your strong suit, but you excel in other subjects," Lisa added.
Jungkook managed a weak smile, grateful for his friend's support. But his attention was suddenly drawn to the front of the class as his teacher announced the toppers of the English test.
"As expected, our class topper, Kim Taehyung, has scored the highest marks once again," Mrs. Lee said with a proud smile.
The whole class erupted in applause and cheers, with most of the students having a crush on Taehyung. But Jungkook's attention was not on Taehyung, but on his best friend, Kim Namjoon. Jungkook couldn't help but stare at him with admiration. He had always been mesmerized by Namjoon's dimple smile, polite behavior towards others, and his intelligence.
Jungkook couldn't deny his feelings for Namjoon, but he knew it was just a silly crush. He was too shy to even talk to him, let alone confess his feelings.
"Jungkook, are you okay?" Eunwoo's voice snapped Jungkook out of his thoughts.
"Huh? Oh, yeah, I'm fine," Jungkook replied, trying to play it cool.
Eunwoo raised an eyebrow, clearly not convinced. But before he could say anything, the teacher announced that they would be continuing with the class. Jungkook couldn't focus on anything the teacher was saying. His mind was still stuck on Namjoon who was giving his dimpled smile to his best friend who was sitting beside him. He couldn't help but feel envious of Taehyung for being so close to Namjoon. They had been best friends since childhood and Jungkook had always admired their bond.
It's not like he and Taehyung have ever fight with him or he ever mocked him for his lower performance in the class but Jungkook just not like his cold nature towards others except Namjoon. That's one of the other reasons he never tried to talk to his crush.
As the class ended, Jungkook gathered his things and made his way out of the classroom. He couldn't shake off the feeling of disappointment and jealousy.
"Hey, Jungkook!" he heard a familiar voice call out behind him. He turned around to see Namjoon walking towards him with a smile on his face.
"Hi, Namjoon," Jungkook replied, trying to hide his blush.
"Don't mind Mrs. Lee's words, she is not rude she only wants you to perform well in the next test. So don't lose hope and all the best for your next test," Namjoon said, patting him on the back.
Jungkook's heart skipped a beat as he felt Namjoon's hand on his back. "T-thanks," he managed to say, trying not to get too flustered. "I'll see you around, Jungkook," Namjoon said with a smile before walking away.
Jungkook couldn't stop the smile that spread across his face as he watched Namjoon walk away. He knew he had a crush on him, but he couldn't help it. Namjoon was just too perfect.
As he made his way to his next class, he couldn't stop thinking about Namjoon's dimple smile. He knew he was crushing hard on him, but he couldn't help but hope that maybe one day, Namjoon would notice him too.
