Louis is living a life some can only dream of. He has a wonderful family, he is CEO of a successful Company and he is drowning in money. It's not always been like this- on the contrary. He's been through a horrible youth and almost didn't make it, b...
"Oh, Harry!" Sheila greeted excitedly when Harry just strolled along the hallway coming from the bathroom. "Good I caught you! Did you hear already?" She asked with a huge smile on her face.
"What should I have heard?" Harry asked with furrowed eyebrows.
"I'm gonna be Mr. Tomlinson's new assistant!" She squealed and Harry's jaw dropped to the floor.
He stared at her how her eyes glistened in excitement, her grin so wide that he was sure her cheeks hurt. A fireball of rage bubbled up in the pit of his stomach and before he knew it his hands balled into fists on his sides.
"What?" He gritted out.
"I received a mail from Laura a few days ago where Mr. Tomlinson was asking for a meeting and then he offered me the job and of course I said yes!" Sheila squealed again in happiness.
"Of course you did." Harry smiled falsely through gritted teeth.
He couldn't endure it any longer- seeing her excitement about something that could be declared as one of his biggest nightmares- so he quickly excused himself and spun around, but as he rounded the corner he collided with Louis out of all people before he could stop.
"Woah!" Louis called out surprised and reached out to grab his arm out of reflex before he even knew who he ran into and his face turned into realistion when he looked at him properly. "Sorry."
"It's fine." Harry huffed and took a step back, not missing the confused look on Louis' face when he noticed his tone.
"Everything okay?" He asked cautiously.
"Sure." Harry shot him a faked smile, but realised pretty quickly how ridiculous he was being angry with Louis when he had no reason to be. "Just forget it." He murmured.
Louis glanced past him where Sheila was still standing not wanting to miss the encounter and she waved at him with a huge smile, before his gaze wandered back to Harry who stared at him with his lips pressed together tightly and an undefinable look in his eyes. He put the pieces together quickly, but not quick enough when before he could even open his mouth Harry slipped past him and was gone within the blink of an eye.
They've been starting to talk to each other at least superficially- and even though it was mostly about work or insignificant topics- since the trip and the incident the week after three weeks ago which was a good start, but Louis had an uneasy feeling in his guts now because he didn't tell him about his decision on taking Sheila as his assistant temporarily for when Laura went on maternity leave in four months at the latest because Louis insisted for her to leave whenever she felt like it and assured her he would be fine and pay her the same wage out of his own pocket.
When he was back in his office he tried not to think about it, but it bugged him deeply and he felt the need to clear it up so when he wasn't able to get anything productive done without his mind wandering to Harry he opened their chat, his stomach turning when he saw that the last messages they sent each other were from before everything went down- emojis and flirty comments jumping at him.
