"Okay, my turn..." Harry said, taking a sip from his coffee. "...What's your favourite memory from Uni?"
"Hmm, good question." Louis hummed, thinking deeply. "Not sure if it counts as Uni memory, but I'd say my graduation day when I saw my family there and Mal and Maddie. I felt proud of myself for the first time, I think. And that they were all there just for me, you know?"
They were spending their lunch break outside after grabbing a coffee by the bakery and walking around the lake in the nearby park. It was chilly, but it wasn't raining for once and they wanted to take that opportunity and get to know each other better. Whenever they saw each other in the hallway or in the kitchen one threw a question at the other who had to answer it, no matter what it was, even if that was all they had time for. Now that they had more spare time seeing they had a one hour lunch it wasn't any different and with each question they learned more and more about the other.
"Did you not go to parties and stuff? You know, like a proper University student?" Harry wondered with a smile.
"Not really. I was mostly busy changing diapers and wiping drool off every surface in my flat." Louis chuckled.
"Fair enough." Harry grinned. "Was it hard?"
"Raising a baby?" Louis guessed and Harry nodded. "Yeah, it was." He sighed. "We didn't have a lot of money because we were both students and Mallory's parents didn't want to support us and my mum had two kids at home as well, but she did what she could. We managed though and we had each other so we learned pretty quickly that we didn't need much to make it, you know?"
"I can't even imagine how draining that must've been. Studying and managing to do well, taking care of a baby and trying to stay afloat. That's admirable." Harry said thoughtfully.
"Thank you." Louis smiled.
"Can I ask you something?" Harry wondered.
"Actually it's my turn..." Louis said with a grin and a glance over to him. "But ask away."
"Did you ever regret it?" Harry asked carefully after a small smile. "Even if it was just for a second?"
"No." Louis denied immediately. "I wouldn't have it any other way and even if I could go back in time I would do it the exact same way again."
"I didn't expect a different answer." Harry chuckled.
"What do you regret most?" Louis asked.
"Apart from the obvious..." Harry glanced at him and Louis shot him a hesitant smile, knowing exactly what he meant. "...not making a better effort at Uni. Because I was lazy as fuck. That's what I regret most probably because I wasted so much time."
"You still made it." Louis smiled.
"True." Harry chuckled. "On a second thought, no I don't regret it. Otherwise I wouldn't be here now and I probably wouldn't have gotten the chance you just gave me."
"I think everything happens for a reason." Louis said thoughtfully and stuffed his hands in his pockets after throwing his cup away.
"Almost." Harry corrected.
"Yeah...some things are unnecessary, but that's life, I guess. We just have to learn how to keep the past in the past and look forward."
"Can you do that?" Harry wondered.
"I hope so." Louis smiled lightly.
"What place did you always want to visit?" Harry asked.
"Why do you always have to ask such tough questions?" Louis groaned jokingly and Harry grinned with a shrug of his shoulders. "There's a lot of places I'd love to go. Hawaii is definitely one of them."
