Rei is not sure if she dreamed being walked around her father's apartment and all the luxuries that it had; being showed the room that already had her stuff in there, 'Brought in while we were eating' he said; and lastly laying down in a new bed, it was so comftable that it made her unable to sleep. Hours or minutes later she passed out, tears in her eyes and a sob in her throat. She wanted to talk to Kaji, confirm if she did something bad or if he said something to her father that made him get rid of her. She wanted to talk to he father and have him listen, ask him why now, what changed, what is going to happen from here on out.
She couldn't find her phone anywhere.
Heartbreak and abandonment filled her heart, nightmares that she could not remember made her scream in the middle of the night. Her father embraced her every time like she was a kid again, his hand rubbing comforting circles on her back. She wept until she fell asleep again and woke up to her father being away at work until night fell. She barely did her body functions and ate the food he left for her at the foot of her door, never noticing the packages of premade food in the trash. She saw no one but her father. She spoke to no one but him. He did not tell her to go back to school or to the Nerv headquarters. A calling of Beloved whispered louder every day reminding her of Israfel.
She did not get out of that bed for three days straight.
He told her that the assigment was given to Shinji and Asuka.
She wished he was this loving before everything happened.
She found her phone, she didn't call anyone.

"I'm worried about them three."
"They've been gone three days, right?"
"Yeah, I know that Ayanami does that frequently but Rei doesn't unless there's a mission" Kensuke was quiet for a second, he abruptly got up from his seat "Do you think thats it?! They have a mission that's too complicated and maybe they need help?! I could do it!"
Silence felt between them, Toji simply looked deadpanned at his best friend; Kensuke sat back down, chatised.
"Should we go to her place later? Check on her" Said Toji.
They looked at each other eyes and nodded their heads, plan formed, the bell rang and class started.

Turns out, Rei is still not answering her phone. They went to her place and the plaque doesn't have her last name and Kaji-san's, only his. Ringing the bell has kaji-san answering on the voicebox.
''Hey guys! What's up?''
''Hi we're worried about Rei, she hasn't been at school lately'' Explained Kensuke.
''Yeah she's been staying at her dad's from now on'' this made both boys look at each other.
''Her dad?''
''Yup''
Silence between all parties fell for a few seconds.
''Are we allowed to know where that is, sir?'' Asked Toji.
''Sorry guys, it is clasified unless Rei-chan gets permission from her dad.''
Kensuke looked the more crestfallen of the two and said ''I see.''
After a few more pleasantries, the boys said goodbye to Kaji-san and now they were outside walking a block away from there. A familiar silhouette was just about to go in another apartment building.
