''This is an unknown ceiling, too'' Rei said out loud, knowing that no mattered the volume of her voice, it would not be heard by anyone but her ''It's only natural, I don't know any place in this city.''

''You can really feel at home here Rei-chan'' Said Kaji-san not even two hours ago.

Memories and faint voices resounded in her head from when she initially passed out.

''Damage unidentified!'' ''Trouble keeping it activated!''

''Status report'' What's that her father? Rei wants to cry out for him, feeling small.

''Synchrograph has reversed. Pulses are flowing backward!''

''Cut the circuits! Stop them!'' Oh that was Dr. Akagi. The pounding on her head vagely assuring her that she's still alive.

''We can't. The signal is refused. It can't be received!''

''What about the pilot?'' No warmth on Gendo's voice for her.

''No response from the monitoring system. We can't tell if she's alive!''

''Unit 01 is totally silent!''

''Sir!''

''Pilot is not responding. Abort the operation! Bring Shinji in for replacement. Eject the plug by force!''

''Impossible. It's totally out of control.'' ''What?!''

''The Eva has restarted!''

''No way'' Rei could imagine Dr. Akagi's face when saying that ''It's not supposed to move without the pilot!''

Rei's ears are ringing, phantom pain in her fists, as if she was punching something. The sound of eveyone on the speakers coming in and out.

''Eva is out of control.''

''The AT-field...''

''It's no use. As long it has the AT-field...''

''..Eva can't touch it.''

Rei's arm was burning, the only thing she can compare it to is when she burned herself with oil when learning to cook, years ago.

''Left arm restored.''

''Unbelievable...''

''Unit 01 is also expanding an AT-field. It's neutralizing the phase space!''

''No, it's corrupting it.''

She's feeling a tingling sensation on her fingers, sometimes being more of a prickle. Not as bad as anything else she's felt today.

''That AT-field was so easily...''

Rei is tired, her pain stops for altoghether to feel an embrace, she gasps on relief and remembers vagely when her mother held her like that.

''It's self destructing?!''

Warmth, the only thing she can concentrate right now is how warm she is, all over. Silence filled the comms for a minute. Her conciousness is swimming.

''The Eva...''

''That's Eva's...'' Ah, that's Kaji isn't it?

''The circuits have been restored.''

''The system is operational. The graph is in the normal position.''

''Pilot's survival confirmed.''

''Body Recovery Team, move it!''

''My brave girl, just rest.''
