"So, how about it?" asked Kaji-san, still trying to get me to accompany him to receive the Unit 02 and it's pilot "you can even bring your friends!"
Rei sighed, she knows that Kensuke would probably have the time of his life, and she knows that Toji has little chance to go out since he takes care of his sister even if his parents are there; she can even invite Hikari, the class president gave her her phone number, they all did, even Ayanami-kun, should she invite him too? She doesn't think they're at that level of friendship yet.
"Fine, I will invite them, but don't be dissapointed if they say no" doubtfull, but still.
Kaji-san did a little pump up with his fists, celebrating. Rei resisted another sigh.
''Oh by the way Kaji-san'' She turned to him ''I heard from Ritsuko-san that your has a promotion at Nerv recently'' she pulled a little package out of her pocket and handed it to him ''congratulations!''
''Aww Rei-chan, you shouldn't have bothered!'' he opened it up delicately, feeling a little chocked up by the stylinsh leather watch with braided sides ''I love it, I'm NEVER taking it off!'' Kaji took a little liberty and hugged her softly, trying to not restrict her at all.
A little giggle escaped her and said ''Well, it is not waterproof so you might have to take it of sometimes.''
''I WON'T.''
They had a few more laughs that afternoon.

To no ones' surprise, the boys said yes, but Hikari said that she was busy with school stuff, and she decided to not even ask Ayanami-kun. Now, wearing a cute set of matching shorts and top, she was on board of the biggest military ship she's ever seen; in truth, she was a little nervious and excited to get to know another pilot, hopefully their relationship is easier to navigate than the people she's met so far, she even learnt a few conversation starters in German!
Kaji-san was talking to the admiral about the authorizations Nerv send along with them. Kensuke was fasinated with their surroundings, recording every single detail available and Toji was being way more discreet about his observations. Ever since stepping off the helicopter, Rei has a feeling of being observed but noone gave the indication of lookink at her rather than at the group; right now, she refocussed on the conversation of the adults to distract herself.
''Yes sir. That issue has already been worked out with the Council.''
The admiral was clearly not impresed not convinced, but he just let his acceptance be known with a grumbled ''The nerve of these jackasses.''
''Thank you for your cooperation in transporting Eva-02~'' Smiled Kaji-san.
Outside of the command room of the ship was such a clear day, the breeze indicating that they were moving felt so nice on her face. The guys were looking around the machinery and how everyone was working.
''An Mi-55d transport chopper! I never thought I'd get the chance to actually ride in one! Like they say 'Good friends are a great blessing'! Right, Rei?'' Kensuke focused his camera on her for a moment, not letting her get a word in ''Four battleships! It's a huge fleet! Yep, good friends are a great blessing! That's the carrier that's the pride of the UN fleet, the Over the Rainbow!''
''You must be going stir crazy, being stuck in the mountains every day, huh Rei?'' asked Toji, waiting for her to nod in response, then looked at Kaji-san ''So, where are we going?''
''To enjoy a lovely cruise on the Pacific aboard a luxury liner and enjoy some outside time!''
''You call this a luxury liner? / Do you think we're plants?'' asked Toji and Rei at the same time.
