pancakes

I woke up from a very comfortable sleep with a bright light in my face. My first thought was, "Am I dead?" My second thought was, "they forgot to turn off the flash."

"Shoot," I heard Casey's voice whisper before they shuffled out of the room. Nick's arms were around my waist and he was spooning me as if I might run away forever if he let go.

Bella, Nick's aunt, made pancakes for breakfast. I complimented her on her baking, and wrote down the name of her bakery: Mouthcloud. She smiled and left to pick up Francis from his sleepover.

I felt so bad throwing up the pancakes, they were made so well. They didn't taste as good the second time, but it never does, and that's not why I do it anyway.

Scarlett left first, as she had to go to work. Nick, Casey and I sat on the couch in our pajamas watching whatever was on. "So, you're full-on dating now?" Casey smirked at us.

I burst out laughing and Nick turned the color of a beetroot. "I'm sure Nick would like to. Everything I do makes him look like that."

He nudges me in the side. "Like what?"

Casey laughed. "Just saying, red with blonde hair is not a good look."

I saw a certain look come over Nick's face. "Let's see how easy it is to make you blush, then."

He scooted up close to me and looked me in the eyes. I have long legs, but a short torso, so even though he was only an inch taller than me standing up, I had to turn my neck to give my challenging look at him.

He put his feet up on the couch so he could turn his entire body toward me. Our faces were only inches apart. He didn't break eye contact.

I tuned out Casey's giggles in the back of my head and tried to snap back to reality. Nick put his hands around me on my lower back and forced me to look at him.

That's it, I was sure my face was pink by now. I laughed and sat back down. Nick looked pleased with himself.

"You guys are idiots," Casey stood up with a wide smile to use the bathroom. As soon as she was gone, I flipped Nick over so he was laying down and I loomed above him. "Why'd you do that?"

"To see that look on your face again," I said slyly. I pressed my hands to his chest. "Seeing how far you'll go until you admit you like me."

He froze and stuttered. "Liv– no, no, I don't–"

I fully sat on top of him, right on his abdomen. I leaned in and put my face 5 inches above his. "Are you sure?"

I was giggling internally so much that I didn't even notice Casey walking back into the room. "What the heck are you guys doing?"

Nick was the first to speak. "Uh, filming a video. For YouTube."

"Since when do you have YouTube?" I whispered a little too loudly.

Casey laughed. "You don't know? Did you not see the gold play button in his room?"

"I thought it was fake," I said, pulling out my phone. "Is it just Nick Wilkins?"

"Yep," Nick said, pushing me off of him. I almost rolled off of the couch, but he caught me and pulled me into the same comfortable position as how he hugged me last night. I clicked on the first video I saw.

"Y'know we all have toxic traits, but–"

Nick grabbed the phone out of my hand and scrolled off of it. "Hey! My phone!" I exclaimed and deviously scrolled back to that one.

"My toxic traits if you were dating me." I burst out laughing. I could hardly hear what he was saying as I was clutching my stomach so hard. It was a full on dad-knee-slap laugh. Once I came to my senses, I heard, "#4, I'm a cuddler." He leaned in on the video and looked into the camera. Instantly, my face became red and I wiggled out of his grasp.

"Hey-!" Nick reached out desperately for me. I planted myself next to him. "So that's why you're cuddling me! I meant it as a joke before, but you really do like me!" Casey looked over the back of the couch. "Don't act like you don't like him. You're blushing like crazy right now."

"I didn't know your face could get so red," Nick teased. I turned to him, mimicking his actions, and leaning in, I whispered, "I'm a cuddler."

He blushed harder than I did. "See?" I said. "When someone attractive gets up in your face and says, "I'm a cuddler," your brain dies." I shrugged. "It's just what happens."

"You think I'm attractive?"

"I said we're both attractive," I corrected him.

"Oh, of course. What a difference," he put his hand in his hair and looked at the TV. "We know you're attractive, so really the only new news is that a girl on this planet thinks I'm cute."

"Ah, ah, ah," I chuckled nervously. "I said attractive, not cute."

"Is that not better?"

"Shoot," Casey butt in. "As much as I love being the third wheel, I have to go to work," she said.

"Just be a successful, famous, and popular YouTuber, just like me," Nick put his palms on the back of his hair. I love his personality. It was so fun and exciting, it just drew me near him. "Then you put out one short a day and you're good," he smirked.

Honestly, he was pretty cute.

"Whatever," Casey yelled back to him.

"She's just jealous," Nick smiled. It was a very genuine smile. "Hey, do you want to be in an actual video before you leave?"

"Who said I was leaving?" I joked. "You said that your house is my house the very first day you came here. I expect to make that a reality."

"Sorry," Nick said, "I'm more introverted, so I thought you would want some time alone."

"I'm a social ambivert," I remarked, making sure my tone was more genuine. "I've been alone for 3 years. Unless you want me to leave, I'm happy to stay here."

I got dressed and put my makeup on. Nick pulled out his phone and sat in his office chair.

"I made a friend," he said into the camera before cutting it. "Some of you may be commenting, 'How is that possible? That's probably so difficult for you,' and to that, I say, please don't comment that because it's really mean."

I giggle from my spot out-of view. I notice his cheeks turn a light shade of pink before he turns the camera to me. "Everyone, meet Olivia," he says with a wide smile on his face.

"Hiii!" I nervously say into his phone. In the reflection of our faces I notice how happy he looks, which makes me happy, and so I forgot to think and just started laughing.

"What– what, what's up?"

I put on my veil of confidence once again. "Shut up and give me the phone," I tease.

"Hey everyone, I'm Livvy, and this is my YouTube channel now. Everyone subscribe because 1.6 million just isn't enough for me."

"Liv, I think it's almost 60 seconds," Nick whispers and takes the camera back. "She moved in near me and I brought her cookies," he made a that-was-a-bad-idea-but-it-turned-out-fine-anyway face into the camera. "And she stayed over last night," he smirked. "No, wait, no, not like that," he said before abruptly cutting and turning to me.

"It'll be funny when I post it," Nick laughed towards me. "I'm sure it will!" I say giddily.
