Hey, gang. This one's gonna be really rough

If you feel like you may be affected by anything in the TWs, you can skip this one. Seriously, it might genuinely put you in a bad mood. I'll try to make it bounce back pretty smoothly after this, after all, I want this to be just a wholesome, romantic love story. But I'm putting this chapter in for a reason.

If you want, the story can end here and you can leave. Thank you for reading, and I loved having you here!

Otherwise, get ready

Last chance to skip

Okay, here we go! Good luck

My phone buzzed again. I was lying in his arms on that very same picnic blanket. He had even brought another blueberry muffin.

My rose smelled gorgeous. He smelled gorgeous, too.

"You should pick up," Nick said.

I gave in. "Okay," I said, and accepted the call.

"Finally, you finally picked up," she breathed. I had never heard her with so much emotion in her voice.

"Yeah, I'm sorry, I was on my date. It went gr–"

"Come to my place, right now. I don't care what you're doing. You need to come over here."

She was so panicked, like I had never imagined she would be.

"Why?" I asked intently. "What's wrong?"

"Just come over, okay? I'll stay on the call with you."

"I'll drive you," Nick offered.

._.

We got there and I knocked on the door. "Hey, bestie!" She smiled at me. Fear was in her eyes. An eerie silence paused between us.

She glanced at Nick, then back at me. "Want to come in?"

"Sure," I muttered, and stepped through her door. The whole house was adorned with her passions, and it would have been beautiful if I wasn't so tense. It was a bit messy, as if it had been pushed through.

I stepped into the living room. And that's when I saw it.

Alyssa was sitting in the recliner in the centre of the room.

Jared was standing next to her.

He had a gun, and it was pointed directly at her head.

He glared at me as I shrieked once, but immediately froze in place. Nobody dared to make a sound. I didn't know where Nick was.

"Listen, Livvy, pretty girl." The devil himself spoke to me through him. "I'm going to give you an offer here."

I think Nick was behind me. Dear God, I hope he was.

"You're gonna date me. In return," he slithered, "I won't end your friend's life right now."

There was more silence.

Alyssa cried out, filling the room with more dread than before, if that was possible. "Liv, don't do it! I'm okay, I was happy with Oliver, and I'll die happy." She gritted her teeth and slowly turned her head toward her capturer.

"Nobody deserves to be with this monster–"

"QUIET, GIRL!"

I couldn't breathe.

He slapped her in the face and turned to me. "I think I've made my premises pretty clear. Make your choice, sweetheart. And it better be the right one."

I tried to speak, but my voice shook and was faint; "I-I'll do it-t..."

"Good girl."

I felt strong but shivering hands close around my chest. "No, she w-won't."

"Nick, I have t–"

"The police are on their way, Liv. It's gonna be okay."

"Wrong move, honey," he said, and pointed the gun toward both of us. He would hit me or him, but I couldn't tell who. I wanted neither.

Click!

The loudest noise I had ever heard was pushed out of the gun.

It happened in slow motion. The bullet was sent toward my head, and I could see the tip of it.

Out of the corner of my eye, Alyssa leapt from her seat. "No!" I heard her cry. Or Millie. Or myself, I wasn't sure anymore.

And she ran forward,

and she shielded us.

I never knew she was so bold like this. It was hidden in her heart, but suppressed by the one who brought it out from her in the end.

Alyssa hit the floor.

After this, the most horrible, gut-wrenching screech came from Millie; so much pain and agony and primal despair was put into her in that very moment that she promptly lunged at him, pulling him down by his leg. She didn't curse at him or insult him, but she screamed, oh, did she scream. Once he had fallen on his head, she took his gun in one swift movement.

"Don't touch her, rapist!" she yelled. Then she put a hole in his face.

I only now realised Oliver was there. He had been locked in the bathroom, sitting in the bathtub, sobbing. Sobbing as much as I only now figured out I was, how much everyone was. I didn't go to unlock him, though, I only hugged Alyssa, who very faintly whispered in my ear,

"It's okay."

I didn't know where Millie was at this point. I think she ran away to jump off a cliff or something. Oliver had chased after her, I would guess.

It was me, it was Nick, and it was Alyssa.

Then it was the police, too. And the paramedics. And then it was just me, at home. I didn't feel like I deserved to lay somewhere comfortable, so I just laid on the bathroom floor. I draped my clothing over the showerhead and sat there, puking all night, lying in my own tears and eventually blood from cutting myself. Nick was there too. I don't know how long he stayed, but he sat outside the bathroom door. He was asleep there in the morning when I left the bathroom. I was only in my underwear, but I didn't feel sexy at all. Cuts lined my arms from my razor, and there were a few on my legs as well.

My stomach hurt from how empty and turned it was.
