also the first few chapters are kinda dumb but this has turned into a story I really enjoy writing!

Nick Wilkins asked me on a date.
"You know, girl, I always saw it coming." Scar's wide smirk was clear from across my bedroom. "You two instantly switched up your attitudes 'round each other. Whenever you came into the room, his face got all red-lookin' like he had seen the girl of his dreams."
"He probably had," Alyssa giggled. I blushed.
"And whenever he looked at you, your face did that." Scar looked at me. I felt butterflies.
"I have news too," the quiet girl on my beanbag chair smiled. "I've been trying to get into a committed relationship ever since... yeah. I think it might be with Oliver. He plays me music and eats cupcakes with me and he gives me shivers I never felt with Jared, ever. I didn't know it was possible to love someone so much."
Scar hugged her. "That's incredible," I said. It was not only incredible she had found someone she loved so much, but also incredible it was a perfect description of how Nick felt to me.
"Now I want cupcakes," Scar considered, and began to go into a thought process of how hungry she was. My stomach began to hurt.
"I wanna marry him!" she exclaimed suddenly, laughing with such a brightness into Scar's arms. Scar smiled down at her like a big sister. "Woah, girl. That's fast. Be careful, there."
I nodded in agreement. My phone buzzed. "Ope, I got a call," I muttered, and picked up the phone.
"I'm on the road! I can't wait to see you tomorrow, Liv!"
The blood pulled away from my face. Troy.
Troy. Troy, Troy, Troy, Troy. It was Troy.
"Also, I forgot to mention, I'm bringing my girlfriend. I hope that's chill with you."
Troy. Troy. Troy.
"Girl, who is it?"
"It's not Troy," I whispered and hung up the phone without a word.
Troy. Troy. Troy. Troy. Troy.
I don't need any more guys in my life, thank you very much.
Especially not one that Scar considers to parallel Jared.
Jared. Jared. Troy. Jared. Troy.
I don't even know what happened to Jared.
What happened to Jared?
"Are you okay, Best?" Scar waved a hand by me. "You're so pale. Here, come lay down."
Jared hurt me so much. I touched where the bruise on my neck had been. I couldn't see it, but it still hurt. It hurt so deep, so deep, deeper than any hurt had gone. The hurt overwhelmed any love I had ever felt. Troy had a girlfriend, would I be okay? Jared had a girlfriend too. Jared's girlfriend... was putting a cool palm on my forehead.
Surely Troy couldn't have been as bad as Jared.
"When you go see Troy this Wednesday, if you do, you have to promise me you'll bring either me or Nick with you. Okay?" she asked. I blinked.
Troy. Jared. Troy.
"Okay," I think I heard what she said, but I was sweating. Or was I crying? I couldn't tell.
"I would say don't go at all." Alyssa whispered. Her voice comforted me. I knew she had been in the same situation I had been in, but worse, and probably many times over.
Her hug was genuine.
Friends are a blessing.
