The Start of Something New

Four Days Later

Burn's POV:

The sun was smiling down on me as I walked through town. I was happy as a Wooper. She didn't want to admit it, but me and Cupcake were essentially going on a date. She had asked me the day after the rain was gone if I wanted to have a picnic lunch in the forest with her. I agreed and today was the day we were going on the picnic. Cupcake had told me to meet her at her house but before I went there I needed to get something special for her-us. Reaching the Market Square, I walked up to the bakery stand and browsed the shopkeeper's wares. As I was doing so, a pair of  Houndoom walked up to the stand and shoved me out of the way. One even snarled at me before turning to face the shopkeeper. 

"Hey!" I said "What's the big idea?"

"The idea, is that you get out of our way, punk." Snarled one of the dark/fire types. 

I didn't want to start a fight or make a scene so I just quietly got back in line behind the pair. As I waited I looked around and was surprised by what I saw. Several other Houdoom were in the square, more than normal, and there were several other pokemon new to town as well. I saw one or two Sableye, a few Sneasel and Weavile, and an Alolan Marowak. There we not this many fire of dark types in Sunspire normally. While I was thinking, the two Houndooms finished their purchases and left, allowing me to reach the front of the line. The Lurantis smiled at me as I walked up to her again. 

"I'm so sorry about the Houdoom." She said, her face becoming slightly flushed. "They think that them and their friends run the place. I've talked with the Market Manager but, she hasn't done anything about it yet. At least not that I'm aware of."

"No need to be sorry. It's not your fault." I said, smiling at the grass type. "I'll take the....Tomato Berry cupcake and the Pecha Berry cupcake. Please."

"Of course!"

She then busied herself with grabbing the sweets I had requested. After putting them in a bag, she said "That'll be 150 pokedollars!"

I dug my paw into my fluff and pulled out the requested amount, with some extra. Handing them to her, I took the cupcakes and said thank you before walking away. As I got to the bridge, I quickened my pace, my heart racing. Today was going to be the best day ever. I was going to ask the beautiful Sylveon if she wanted to be together. With me. I nervously shook my head trying to get rid of the anxiety and worry that was building up. 

Reaching the front door of the den, I took a deep breath and knocked. Before my paw could touch the door a second time, it flew open and Cupcake's beautiful face was smiling at me.

"Hiya Burn!" She greeted me happily. "You ready?"

"Yep!" I replied, not know if should say something else.

"Then let's get going! Follow me!"

A wide grin on my face, I followed the Sylveon closely, but made sure to not get too close. She led us through the forest till we reached an open clearing on a cliff that had a view of the ocean. Cupcake set down a blanket that I hadn't noticed she was carrying and sat down. I gut dropped slightly when I realized i was supposed to bring ALL of the food. 

"I uh....only brought cupcakes." I said sheepishly. 

"That's fine! Don't worry. I ate before this anyways." 

I nodded, face redder than normal, and I sat down next to Cupcake before I handed her, well, cupcake. 

"Pecha Berry!? Thank you so much!" Cupcake exclaimed before hugging me.  

I felt my whole body begin to warm up at her affection and I just nodded and quietly took a bit out of my cupcake. 

"What one did you get?" The Sylveon asked me.
