Sandy's POV:

"Comrade Wave!" I called across the forest. If he was anywhere in the vicinity, he most likely could not hear me over the boom of thunder above. "Wave!" The sky flashed as lightning raced across it, giving more light to our search.

I was soaked. The rain had turned by fur from a light ice blue to a dark navy. The storm had continued to intensify the later it got, and we had been out here for almost three hours now. I looked behind me to see Branch, Crystal, and Cupcake all searching for Moon and Wave in different directions, calling their names as well. Crystal was the only mon who wasn't wet due to her freezing the water before it hit her fur, creating an aura of icy mist around her. I caught Branch looking at her with love in his eyes several times, which made me chuckle. Flower had stayed behind to make sure Burn recovered okay, which was the only way we were able to get Cupcake to come look for Wave and Moon. Looking around at the forest, dark and damp, I noticed the stream that flowed through the woods, it's water rippling with the falling raindrops. I walked over to it, intending to clean my claws, but stumbled upon several pawprints in the mud. Vaporeon pawprints. Wave's pawprints.

"Comrades! I have found Wave's pawprints!" I called over my shoulder. I bent down to inspect the tracks in greater detail. They were defiantly Wave's. Small marks in between the toes announced the fact that these paws were webbed.

The others came rushing over to look at my discovery. Crystal looked up the river and towards the towering mountains in the distance. Another flash of lightning illuminated the determined look on her face. "They must be further up stream." She looked back at us, now clearly in charge. "Let's go."

We followed the Alolan Ninetails up the stream, all of us silent in contemplation. The pawprints had small amounts of dried blood in them, meaning Wave was still hurt badly. After we had continued up the stream for a long time without finding anything, I began to ask Crystal if maybe Wave had gone in a different direction, when a large boom sounded followed by a flash of lightning.

"Sandy look out!"

I turned and saw a large tree falling towards me. I rolled out of the way just as I landed in the spot I was just at with a crack. The stump the tree had broken off from had clearly been struck by the lighting. Crystal motioned for us to continue without saying a word. Soon, Wave's pawprints broke through the woods and into a clearing. Following them, we spotted both Eeveelutions.

"Comrade Wave!"

"Moonbeam!"

"Moon!"

"Moon!"

We all ran towards them but stopped as we saw what Wave saw:

Moon's dead body, laying limp against a rock.

Crystal's face became harder than stone as she comforted Branch, who was sobbing his eyes out. Cupcake looked too shocked to believe what she saw in front of her. I looked at Wave, but the Vaporeon's eyes were hollow. They were red and puff as well, meaning he had been crying for sometime, but it was to hard to tell if he was now. The water type did not move once the entire time we entered the clearing. I did not know what to do so I mealy sat down next to my Comrade in silence. I put an arm around my him, but if he registered the touch, he didn't say anything. I began hearing the sound of sobbing and I looked over at Cupcake, having somewhat forgotten she was there. Water was pouring out of her eyes like it had nowhere else to go. I felt somewhat bad for her, but before any of us could do anything, the Sylveon ran off into the woods.

Branch's POV:

As Cupcake ran off into the woods, Crystal stood up to go after her but I stuck out a paw and stopped her. She looked at me with a questioning look.
