This next one is by @Molefeonalerena , who wanted a chimera (MKXMeiXRedSon) ship where there are only three rings of samadhi fire and each of them was chosen by a ring. Mei and Red are having an easier time controlling the Samadhi fire than MK, who's stressed out.
Super excited about the angst in this one and it's been a while since I've done one of these one-shots so here we go!
Things to know! The fire is weaker at first because it's split into three. I mostly follow the events of Cannon season 3 episode 10, so obviously make sure you've watched that beforehand. (which I'm assuming you all have because it's been ages since it's come out so if you haven't seen that then where the heck have you been?
And without further ado, let's do this.
As soon as Mei and MK had stumbled upon their boyfriend and explained what they were doing he'd been cautious. He hated the idea of stealing from his father but naturally, when MK and Mei both turned their puppy dog eyes on him he'd sighed and dragged a hand down his face, agreeing with a longsuffering groan they'd both beamed at.
"I can't believe I'm doing this for you idiots, but fine." He huffed, and they both thanked him cheerily and had kissed him on each cheek for good measure just to watch his hair spark into flames behind him.
"Sure. Now let's get on with this."
They'd stolen the second ring from right under DBK's nose, literally, and then Red had driven them out of his house at top speeds, wincing at the lecture he was sure to receive when he got back.
Then they'd clubbed together to get the third and final ring, which also went pretty well which was why MK was confident this whole thing was going to work out and-
He thinks now, lying on the floor in pain with ice trapping his legs to the middle of this weird circle thing on the mountain, that he must have jinxed it. Red was still hissing nearby, covered in ice from Macaque's attack, and using his flaming hand to try and melt it with no success while Mei was trapped in Macaque's grip dangling and struggling as he held her up, eyes hard.
"Do it. Finish the ritual." Macaque yelled almost angrily and MK tried to move his legs, wincing in pain and reaching a hand out uselessly toward Mei who was still struggling. If he hurt her-
"Alright. You win." MK didn't have time to look at Tang when gold flooded his vision, pouring into the ground beneath him in the ritual circle and covering Mei, Red Son, and him in a bright glow. He could still see Mei struggling, could see Red's flame as he tried to get to her and even when the Bone Demon had taken his powers MK hadn't felt so helpless.
"Wait, please-" MK's words got cut off by a weird feeling in his chest, his ribcage tight and hot and he gasped at the feeling, eyes wide at the sight of one of the three rings near him splayed in a fire so dark it almost looked black. It hurt, and he grabbed at his chest uselessly, hearing Mei and Red cry out at the same time and hating himself even more for being so useless.
"STOP!" That was Monkey King, his voice a loud yell MK recognized easily and even though he didn't look all he could feel was relief. Monkey King was here. He'd fix things-
The sound of fire and something burning in his blood made him yell, his own voice drowned out by that of his two partners doing the same and he chocked on the feeling of scorching lava on his tongue, heat so strong he thought it would melt his bones tearing through him. It felt like he was on fire, and when he managed to open his eyes again all he could see was flames red and angry covering his hands and body and he quickly snapped them shut again.
The ice that had pinned him down was long gone, but he couldn't bring himself to move much more than curling into a fetal position, gripping at his burning chest, and trying not to scream.
