Chapter 11 Monsters

━━━━━━━━☆★☆━━━━━━━━

Just as Eddie's mom arrives, she furiously pulls her son to her side and points an accusing finger at the rest of the group. "You. You did this. You know how delicate he is!"

"We were attacked, Mrs. K." Bill tells as the woman takes Eddie past Bill and Beverly to her car.

"No. Don't. Don't try and blame anyone else." She puts Eddie in the car and closes the door. Fumbling, she drops her car keys.

Beverly steps forward to pick them up for her. "Let me help."

Eddie's mom holds out her hand, forcing Beverly back. "Get back!" She steps forward and glares at Beverly. "Oh, I've heard of you, Miss Marsh. And I don't want a dirty girl like you touching my son."

"Mrs. Kaspbrack-" Eleanor starts, but the woman cuts the girl off.

"I'm going to tell all this to your dad, miss Holden."

Bill steps forward, trying to clear up the misunderstanding. "Mrs. K, I swear, I..."

Spinning around and pointing a finger at the group, Eddie's mom speaks. "No! You are all monsters. All of you. And Eddie is done with you. Do you hear? Done!"

She furiously stomps around her car to the driver's seat and gets in as Eddie sits in the car, crying. Bill, Beverly, Richie, Ben, Stanley, Mike and Eleanor remorsefully stand there as she drives off.

Bill turns around to face the group. "I saw the well. We know where It is and next time we'll be better prepared."

"No! No next time, Bill! You're insane!" Stanley shouts in disbelief.

"Why? We all know no one else is going to do anything." Beverly steps forward, defending Bill.

"We're gonna kill that clown and save Derry for everyone's sake." Eleanor states, a glimpse of bravery dominating her body. "If we don't do it, that fucking clown will kill us one day or another."

"Eddie was nearly killed!" Richie gestures towards the wounds on Ben's stomach. "And look at this motherfucker. He's leaking hamburger helper!"

"We can't pretend It's gonna go away." Beverly argues and turns to Ben. "Ben, you said it yourself, It comes back every twenty-seven years."

"Fine! I'll be 40 and far away from here. I thought you said you wanted to get out of this town, too." Ben says.

"Because I wanna run towards something. Not away!" Beverly states.

"I'm sorry, who invited Molly Ringwald into the group?" Richie gestures toward Beverly and she scowls at Richie while sticking up her middle finger.

"Richie..."

"I'm just saying, let's face facts. Real world. Georgie is dead. Stop trying to get us killed, too." Richie says to Bill.

Bill glares at Richie getting angry. "Georgie's not dead."

"You couldn't save him, but you can still save yourself." Richie says.

"No, take it back. You're scared and we all are, but take it back!" Bill pushes Richie back. Enraged, Richie runs forward and pushes Bill, who punches Richie, knocking him to the ground.

"Bill!" Eleanor yells, holding into Bill's arm.

As Stanley and Mike help Richie to his feet, he yells back. "You're just a bunch of losers! Fuck off!"

Stanley restrains Richie with the help of Mike. "Richie, stop."

Restraining Bill as he attempts to hit Richie again, Ben tells. "Bill, stop."

"You're just a bunch of losers and you'll get yourselves killed trying to catch a fucking stupid clown!" Richie shouts.

"Stop!" Beverly scream as Mike and Stan let go of Richie and face her. Ben releases Bill and gives her his attention as well. "This is what it wants. It wants to divide us. We were all together when we hurt It. That's why we're still alive!"

"Yeah? Well, I plan to keep it that way." Richie angrily walks past Bill, bumping into him in the process. Stanley walks off as well. Ben scowls at Bill, Beverly and me before he, too, goes to get his bike.

As Mike walks past us Beverly calls out. "Mike..."

Mike sadly turns around as Richie, Stan, and Ben ride off on their bikes. "Guys... I can't do this." He holds his hands out. "My granddad was right. I'm an outsider. Gotta stay that way." He goes to get his bike.

Bill, Beverly and Eleanor sadly share a look, knowing that our group is down to three now.

Soon, Eleanor finds herself back at home, quietly closing the door as she steps inside the apartment. She looks in the living room to see if dad's here yet. But he's not. She sighs in relief before walking down the hallway, to come face-to-face with dad.

"Hi, Dad." She greets nervously.

"Hey, El." He looks blankly at his daughter. "Where were you?"

"With my friends."

"Mrs. Kaspbrack said me about her son's accident. And also she said me about the type of friends you're hanging out with." His voice fills with disappointment.

"Dad, they're not bad!" She argues.

"Yeah. Maybe all of them are not bad." He says. "I heard about that Beverly girl too."

"Dad, they're all just rumours. She's a nice girl, I swear." She defends her friend without any hesitation.

"All right. Maybe she's good as you think." He says, even though the girl knows he doesn't believe it to be true. "Anyway, I want to drop a good news to you. We're leaving this town in the beginning of this September. I got a transfer to Virginia."

"Dad, I don't wanna go!"

"Darling, I'm doing this for your future." He reasons. "I don't want to see you destroying your own future because of a bunch of kids. And you're a girl, darling. You should think twice before what you choose. Beside you're the one who said that you hate Derry."

"Dad-"

"I don't want to hear excuses, El. We're leaving and that's it. I'll give you time to see your friends for the last time before we leave. Until that you can't go meet your friends again."

"Fine. I don't want any friends. I'll be in my bedroom locking my door every single day until we leave. You happy now?"

He gives her a sympathetic look and opens his mouth to speak. Enough of the drama, Eleanor jogs into her room and shut the door with a loud thud.
