Chapter 24 The Skateboard
━━━━━━━━☆★☆━━━━━━━━
Eleanor walks into the inn to see Beverly and Ben sitting on the staircase, talking.
Beverly notices her first and greets. "Hi."
"Hi."
"What did you see out there?" Ben questions.
"Something I wish I hadn't." She shivers at the memory. "Horrible. That fucking clown."
"So what... Do we kill him and forget everything again?" Ben asks.
"I hope so, don't you?" The blonde responds, taking her seat in between them and putting her arms around their necks.
"I do not know. I would like to remember the good, you know? You will definitely want to remember something from the past." Ben states.
"I remember how scared I was." Beverly shrugs.
"You are cold, Bev."
"Oh. I remember your white underpants." Eleanor says, making Beverly chuckle.
"Forget such a moment." Ben complains, laughing lightly.
"I remember this." Beverly says, taking out the post card Ben gave her. "I remember the boy who wrote it for me."
"It won't be much, but... How it made me feel. A kiss. I don't know, it's still blurry. But the longer we are here, the clearer it is. I see the moment more clearly. And I see... Stan I believe. I don't know, remember?" Beverly adds, dreamily as Ben's face falls at the mention of Stanley instead him.
"I know who exactly wrote this." Pointing at the postcard, the blonde says.
Ben's eyes widens. "Do you?"
"Yep, I was a bright student at my age and it is still the same." Eleanor flashes a grin.
"Who is it?" Beverly questions with a curious expression.
"I think he'll tell it by himself when he gets the guts." She pats on Ben's shoulder, trying to motivate him to get to Beverly.
Suddenly, Richie walks in and reaches the staircase. "Move."
"What happens?" Eleanor raises an eyebrow as she gets up and gives him space.
"I'm going." He replies, climbing the stairs.
"That? You can't leave, when we separate, we die." Beverly points out.
"I'll take the risk. We will die anyway." Richie says and reaches the top of the staircase, before walking into his room.
"Rich! Rich!" Ben follows after him.
"That little coward." Eleanor shakes her head and sits on the stairs once again, beside Beverly who is looking at her postcard.
"It's wasn't Stan, Bev. You never kissed Stan."
"Who is it then."
"It's for you to find out." I pause. "Tell me, Bev."
"Tell what?"
"I left Dylan for Bill. You? What about you? Why did you leave Tom?"
Beverly turns to her and sighs. "Tom was very nice first. We worked together and built Rogan-Marsh together. He was a good partner. We got married and lived very happily. But suddenly, he became violent and abusive towards me. It was like a bad dream."
"You're brave, Bev. You made the right decision to leave Tom brat." Eleanor comforts her friend. "You can start a new life after we fuck that clown away."
