Chapter 5 School Project
━━━━━━━━☆★☆━━━━━━━━
Trying her best to forget about yesterday's horrific incident, Eleanor walks to the kitchen to see a tired Luke, serving the hot pancakes to the dining table.
"Good morning, dad." She greets him, sitting on her chair.
"Good morning, El." He smiles. "Got a good sleep?"
"Yep." She lies, filling her plate with pancakes.
"Good." Luke says.
"We should buy a new remote controller." Eleanor suggests as she remembers yesterday's incident.
"What's wrong with the current one?" Dad asks, eating his pancakes.
"It's not working." She reasons. "And I don't like it."
"Alright." He shrugs, taking a seat. "So what happened yesterday?"
"Ah. I think I was under stress. Henry is bullying me every single time he spot me somewhere. I literally hate him. This town is a freak, including the people inside it." Eleanor answers. It's true that Henry is being an ass to her, but it's better not to tell him about 'her mother and that clown' thing again. It's not like he's gonna trust her.
"Henry as Bowers?"
"Yes. Him."
"Did he hurt you? I'll talk to his father and make him advice his son."
"Dad, he's dangerous. Don't you get it? Henry will kill me!"
"Don't worry. I won't let that kid hurt you again."
"How? How are you gonna do that, dad? You're sinking into your work and barely notice my existence. If you can't move us out of this freaking town, just shut it. I'll handle him by my own!"
Luke opens his mouth and closes speechlessly. "I'm sorry, El. I will try to do something about this mess. I promise."
She nods. "Okay."
They eat silently in the next few minutes, until Eleanor decides to speak again.
"Dad?"
"Yeah, darling?"
"How did you meet mom?"
He looks at her from his plate with a questionable look. "Huh?"
"It's for a school project." She lies through her tongue, doing her best to keep a blank look.
"Okay?" He replies, buying her lie. He gulps and seems to be wondering how to explain the story to his daughter. "Well. It's a long story... I was a fifteen year old kid when I first saw Elena. She was a beautiful girl with a brilliant personality and I was... just me."
"Tell me more."
"I think you're too small to know about relationships."
"Dad, I'm twelve!" Eleanor complains as she stands up to do her dishes.
"I know that you're twelve. But I'm not gonna tell you anything more." He says as he imitates her. "At least not until you become eighteen."
"What about the project?" Shs asks.
"I know that it is not for a school project." He shoots her a look, not bothering to hide that he knows that she lied.
She groans. "Fine. I don't want to know."
The landline starts to ring, making Eleanor wipe her wet hands on her jeans.
"El, we are your manners?" Dad glares at her as he notices.
"Sorry." She apologises and drags herself to the phone and answers it. "Holden Residence."
"Hey, It's Beverly."
Eleanor's eyes light up in excitement as she hears her friend's voice. "Hey, Bev!"
"Can you come over to my apartment?" The redhead requests.
"Now?"
"Yeah. You need to hurry."
"Alright. I'll be there." Eleanor says, before hanging up and collects her stuff. "Dad, I'm gonna go to Beverly's place."
"Good idea." He says happily, at the idea of her daughter hanging out with a friend. "I'm glad you made a friend."
"Me too, dad." She gives him a quick hug, before hurrying to the front door. "Gotta go."
"Have fun!"
The blonde teenager hears him yelling from the kitchen before she jogs out of the house.
As she reaches Beverly's apartment, Eleanor notices that others have already arrived.
"Am I the late one?" Eleanor asks as she joins the team.
"No, you made it at time. I... I need to show you something." Beverly says.
"What is it?" Ben asks.
"More than we saw at the quarry?" Richie inquires and turns to the blonde. "Are you gonna show too?"
"Shut up! Just shut up, Richie." Eddie glares at Richie.
"My dad will kill me if he finds out I had boys in the apartment." Beverly states.
"Then we'll leave a lookout." Bill says and turn to the short boy with glasses. "Richie, stay here."
As Bill, Eddie, Ben, Stanley and Eleanor leave their bikes and accompany Beverly to the apartment, Richie speaks. "Whoa, whoa, whoa! What if her dad comes back?"
"Do what you always do. Start talking." Glancing at Richie as Ben, Bill, Eddie, Beverly and Eleanor ascend the steps, Stanley replies and turns and follows the others up the stairs.
"It is a gift!" Richie yells.
"Who says?!" The blonde yells back, making others chuckle.
"Great Richie says. Is there a problem with that, blonde?!" Richie yells back once again, before the group minus Richie enter Beverly's apartment.
Beverly leads them into the hallway towards the bathroom. "In there."
Glancing at the closed bathroom door, Eleanor asks. "What is it?"
"You'll see." Beverly says.
As they walk towards the bathroom, Eddie asks, raising his eyebrows. "Are you taking us to your bathroom? Just wanted to know, 89% of worse accidents in homes are in bathrooms and it's full of bacteria and fungus land it's not really a sanitary place-"
He doesn't get the chance to continue his ramblings of germs and bacteria, because Bill pushes the bathroom door to reveal a blood covered bathroom.
"I knew it." Eddie finishes.
"Y-you see it?" Beverly asks, like she's trying to confirm herself.
"Yes." Eddie shivers at the sight of blood.
"What happened here?" Eleanor asks, staring at the blood, still in shock.
"My dad couldn't see it. I thought I might be crazy." Beverly answers.
"Well, if you're crazy, then we're all crazy." Ben states.
"W-we c-can't leave it like this." Bill comments, walking into the bathroom carefully, taking the full view of the room full of blood.
