After getting dinner, the ninja sat down at their booth and promptly began theorizing about the next fight.
"I hope it's not any of us." Jay said nervously, twisting his thumbs.
Cole smacked his fist down on the table. "Don't jinx us. Knowing Chen, one of us probably will be fighting."
Instead of the announcement being on brackets the small retro television flickered on.
Nya sighed. "Here we go. Pray for me ya'll."

"Good evening fighters!" Chens staticky voice sounded through the other end. "Congratulations to Shade winning the fight against Bolobo! Now, to announce the next fight.. drumroll please?!"
  The kitchen erupted with stomping and hitting.
      "The Green Ninja against the Elemental Master of Fire! Anyways, goodnight and be ready for the fight tomorrow morning!"

   The audio stopped and a football program switched back on. Kai turned his head in horror, making eye contact with Lloyd, who immediately looked back down at his plate.
   Nya couldn't help but stifle out a giggle but immediately stopped when Garmadon gave her a look. "I mean.. my prayers were answered. Don't gotta deal with Kai anymore. Lloyd you gotta' easy win bud."

"Hey!" Kai protested.

   Lloyd tossed and turned thinking about the events of the next day. He pinched the bridge of his nose to try and quell the dizziness of his thoughts.
   "Hey green machine, you awake?" Kai said softly.
   Lloyd looked up at him, his eyes were still closed, fingers pinching his nose, and he looked really nauseous.
"Yes, I'm awake" He said with a soft voice.

    Kai moved over to Lloyd's cot and put his hand on his forehead, trying to comfort him. He noticed how tense the blonde's stature was, and he moved his thumb in circles over his forehead and back of the head to try and ease the tension and headache.
   Kai took a deep breath, hoping he would find the right words.
"I can't deny, I'm scared as well," he said softly. "But we can't let that defeat us."

   Lloyd's anxiety had grown since the announcement and he was now feeling a bit more nervous.
"We can do this." Kai said, with a more confident tone.
  Lloyd's dizziness was growing and he was starting to feel a bit sick from it.
   He turned to Kai with sadness in his eyes. "I'll let you win."
   But, the Fire Ninja was having none of that, he shook his head vigorously. "No you won't let me win, you're sick. And I'll lose for you."

"No. Just— let me— please." Lloyd pleaded.
Kai looked at the younger ninja and could see how bad his panic was getting.
    He realized that Lloyd needed him, and so he spoke very softly and calmly to him.

"Hey, look at me." Kai said in a soothing voice. "I know you're feeling panicked and scared, but I want you to breathe with me."
  Kai put his hand on Lloyd's back, and the two started to inhale and exhale at the same time.
   The calmness and relaxing breath helped to soothe the two of them; and slowly but surely, the uneasiness started to subside. "Thanks, Kai."

"Anything for you, home slice. Now go to sleep."

  The crowd went wild as Lloyd made his way to the center of the arena. Kai was waiting there with a somber look on his face.
The buzzer went off.
"First to get the Jade Blade wins!"
"Only one can remain!" Master Chen shouted from the bleachers.

   Lloyd pulled his hood down. Better make this look real enough for Chen to buy it.
   Kai and Lloyd then continued to throw punches at each other, the fight was convincing, but they were still holding back.
  They threw jabs, but made sure they wouldn't land too hard, aiming to make it look like Kai was winning.
   Chen watched the fight excitedly, seeming to enjoy the mirage.
The fight was becoming more intense the longer it went on, but neither of them were letting themselves land a hard hit, only parrying weak ones.

  Chen slowly started to get annoyed as the punches started feeling faker by the second.
   He stood up and shouted "This is a fight! Why are you holding back?! You're supposed to be fighting like you mean it!"
"Sorry Lloyd," but in that moment, Kai knew there was no other way. He had to make this fight look authentic to fool Chen.
   He was sorry and could do nothing but what he had to. He then grabbed his hidden knife and raised it in the air; then proceeding to stab Lloyd in the shoulder.

Lloyd yelled out in pain as the knife pierced through his body.
  The crowd was shocked, especially the other Elemental Masters.
   Kai immediately dropped to the ground next to Lloyd's feet as his yelp echoed throughout the whole arena.
He apologized again but he was frozen with grief and sadness as the Green Ninja started to stumble.

It happened so fast that he didn't see the trap door under him.

   As the door closed behind Kai, he couldn't reach out to grab the Jade Blade in time. He fell through with a yell. "Loser!"

   Lloyd felt his strength fading but saw that the Jade Blade was there and he had it in his hand.

"We have a winner!" Chen shouted over the intercom. "The Green Ninja!"
"I was hoping they'd kiss or something the way they were looking at each other before the Fire Ninja fell. Oh well!"

  Lloyd sighed as he looked at the Blade in his hand. "It should've been me."
