You slipped your sundress over your head as you kicked your sandals off to the side. You hadn't been able to do a night swim since leaving district 4, for the quarter quell. It had been a tradition of yours and Finnick's since before you could even remember.

Finnick had already made his way into the water and was swimming laps as he waited for you. "While we're still young, beautiful!" Finnick called out to you in the water.

"Age before beauty, Odair!" You call back just as smart assed as he had been. You finally ran your way into the water and dove in when you got deep enough to do so safely.

Finnick's head popped up out of the water as you broke the surface too. "Took you long enough, sweetheart." Finnick said as he caught his breath. You scoffed offended and splashed him when your hands made contact with the surface of the water.

"I didn't take that long, seaweed brain; don't be so dramatic." You joke and he just spits out the water you sprayed him with and chuckled.

"You are lucky I love you, you know that?" He asks before moving closer to you in the water. Your breath hitched as he crept closer, like a shark finding its prey.

He got so close he rested his forehead against your own. "I wanna kiss you so bad, even when you drive me crazy." He mumbled staring at you with love filled eyes.

You smiled and pulled your face away from his, "you've gotta catch me first." You say before turning and swimming away fast.

Finnick's charm worked on everyone, that is everyone; except you, and it drove him mad. He watched for a moment dumbfounded before chasing after your swimming silhouette. He finally caught up to you and you wrapped your arms around his neck. You gasped when you felt his hands grab your thighs and wrap them around his waist. "Finnick?" You say in surprise, but he didn't respond.

Instead he took one of his hands from your waist and brushed a wet piece of hair out of your face. "Even when you annoy the crap out of me; even after all these years, you're still the most beautiful woman in the world." He says before pressing his lips to yours.

You kiss for so long, before you open your eyes to see the sun was setting, painting the sky in shades of purple, pink, and blue. You disconnected from his lips and leaned your head against his as you watched the sun set.

"It's so pretty." You whisper and Finnick smiled.

"Yeah it is—but I've seen prettier." He said and you turn to look at him only to find him staring at you. You smile and lean in to press your lips to his once again.

After the sun sank below the horizon the moon began to rise and you disconnected from Finnick. You splashed around in the water and you'd race each other. You played around like little kids and in that moment that's exactly what you two were. Growing up you never got to be a kid because the threat of the hunger games was always looming. But now that they were no more, you could finally make up for lost time.

"Ha, beat ya again!" You say for the 3rd time in a row.

Finnick scowls, "you're cheating!" He says.

"No I'm just a better swimmer than you." You say and Finnick pouted. "Don't be a sore loser now." You say walking out onto the shore. You found your towel and wrapped it around you before sitting down.

Finnick came to dry off a moment later before sitting down next to you. "This was nice." He said staring at the now dark water.

You nodded, leaning your head onto his shoulder. "Yeah it was." You reply feeling like you were home after so long of being gone. The ocean, the beach, and Finnick were your home and always have been.
