You nervously bit your nails as you watched Finnick save Katniss from an attack with his trident. Your nail beds were going to be bitten raw at this rate. Haymitch watched your nervous posture and felt awful for you. You were pregnant and the father was in a death trap fighting for survival, you had every reason to be concerned.
Haymitch placed a comforting hand on your back, "he'll be okay, (y/n). He's strong." Haymitch told you and you tried to cling to his words.
"I hope you're right." You say before turning back to face the screen.
Peeta had been dragged underneath the water by another tribute and Finnick had dove in after him. Why he would do such a thing, you had no idea? But then again if Peeta died then the alliance would be off, and Finnick would have to take on an angered Katniss Everdeen.
A cannon went off while the three were still under the water and you prayed that it wasn't Finnick's. Your prayer has luckily been heard as Finnick emerged with Peeta on his back as he swam to shore. You let out a breath of relief that you hadn't realized you had been holding.
You leaned back into the sofa as you watched the broadcast. The camera shifted to Joanna, Blight, Wiress, and Beetee. If it wasn't Finnick or even Mags that won, you wanted the winner to be Joanna. Because she hated the Capitol as much as you did.
They were hiking into the jungle and Joanna ever the complainer was complaining. But considering how that wasn't interesting enough the broadcast then switched to the career pack. You lost interest in the broadcast after that for a moment and you leaned your head onto Haymitch's shoulder.
He glances over at you but says nothing and returns to watching the broadcast. Perhaps it's because you reminded him of his first love, Annabeth McKinley, that he was softer to you and treated you with a kindness few people got from him.
The feed returned to Finnick's group and at this you perked up. You saw him carrying Mags on his back and you smiled at how sweet he was to her. Your hand rested on your belly as you listened in.
"PEETA NO!!!" Katniss called out to her fiancé before he struck his machete against the forcefield and it sent him flying into the others.
Haymitch shook his head, before taking a long sip of his liquor. You watched as Finnick tries to save Peeta's life.
You're at the edge of your seat as you watch completely invested. But then Peeta gasps back to life and Katniss wraps her arms around him. Perhaps there was some genuine love there after all.
The cameras switch between the other victors until around 11 when they broadcast the fallen victors in the sky. You hadn't been close to most of them but you still felt horrible. They all didn't deserve to go through this a second time.
You had been served food as you watched the games and you felt nothing but disgust. Why should you eat so grandiosely while the tributes inside the arena starved? You did however eat, because you knew Finnick would have made you eat since it wasn't just you anymore.
