For the past month Finnick hasn't left your side once, and any chance he got he'd have his hand on your 5 month baby bump. He would talk to bean all the time now and you couldn't help but love it.
The only time he had to separate from you was when he had to be a distraction for Snow, so the rebels could retrieve the victors from the tribute center.
Having to listen to him speak about his time being sold pained you in ways you couldn't explain. How he had survived that and was still so sweet and so kind to the people that deserved it was something you couldn't fathom. You knew he hated talking about his past because it only reminded him of how his youth and his innocence had been taken from him. But you had been his saving grace in his darkest days and had brought him out of the hole he had been digging for himself.
Even now, the moment his confession had finished he had found you in the control room where Katniss was trying to get Snow to answer her call. He sat down and moved so that you were sitting on his lap, so he could wrap his arms around your belly. You were his safe place and he was yours.
When Snow answered, his voice sent a shiver down your spine. He was a horrifying man that you despised with every fiber of your being. For what he had made Finnick do and what he had put you and every other tribute through for the last 64 years. He was sick and twisted and you turned away from his projection and into Finnick's neck where your face nestled into.
"Miss Everdeen it is the things we love most that destroy us." Snow said and you nestled deeper trying to escape the horrid man's words, "do you think I don't know what your friends are doing in the tribute center?" He asked, "have a good night." He said before the projection cuts out.
You can hear Katniss sobbing and Finnick feels you sobbing for Joanna. You missed your best friend who could be dead for all you knew. It also didn't help that you were pregnant and hormonal. Finnick picked you up and carried you back to your shared quarters.
He laid you down on the bed and you snuggled into his side as he wrapped his arms around you. You held his arm tightly, as he took your mind off of the situation by talking to you. "Are you hoping for a girl or boy?" He asks you rubbing your belly.
You look over and smile softly as you sniffle, "I was hoping for a little boy that reminds me of you." You answer, you nod in his direction, "what about you?" You ask him.
He looks down at your belly and then back into your eyes. "I'd be lucky either way, but I think I want a little girl." He answered and you laughed.
"The deadly Finnick Odair, wants—a little girl?" You joke and he laughs.
"Yes—he does." He says leaning closer to you before kissing your lips and you smiled as you both fell asleep wrapped in each other's arms.
You woke up a few hours later when a knock interrupted your sleep. Finnick called that it was open and Katniss came in. "Their back!" She said and you immediately perked up. You held your hands out for Finnick to grab and he helped you up from the bed.
