Chapter 28 : War Again

Auria leaned her forehead against the cool window as it stormed heavily outside making it more of a gloomy day.
It's been four days since Alyster's passing , a reality she wasn't ready to accept. Lindsay cried and wept continuesly and shut herself in her room only coming out to use the bathroom and make them food , she was suffering , they both were .
There came a light knock on the door then Lindsay cocked her head in

"Hey Auria " she said gently "can I come in ? "

"Of course " Auria answered in a horse voice

Lindsay gently closed the door and stood beside Auria , rubbing her arm soothingly as they both gazed out the fogged window

"How are you holding up ? I've been to selfish to check up on you "

Auria huffed " It hurts but...I can't imagine how you're feeling. You probably don't want me around now..."

There was a long silence until Lindsay finally said "No...I do , Auria I care about you like my own. There's something special about you dear "

That warmed her heart , before she could answer there came a loud explosion followed by a dozen others . Auria opened the windows and a pit settled in her stomach seeing the sight before her. The ground rumbled as thousands of black mutant horses raded the village causing chaos , the Grackulian knights threw bombs at various houses , anguishing shrieks filled the air causing her heart to sink

"Oh my goodness..." Lindsay croaked wide eyed as her hands covered her mouth "not this again "

Lindsay hurriedly shut the windows along with the curtains , her hands were shaking and she was on the verge of hyperventilating. Auria's expression grew grave, she passed by Lindsay and marched out the room with the intention of putting Tyrens head on a stick

"Auria ? Auria where are you going ? " Lindsay asked anxiously, following her " if you think you're going out there , you've got another thing coming "

"Lindsay trust me " Auria said with authority putting on her boots

"Trust you ? You're going to get yourself killed "

Auria turned to her , her expression gentled as she saw Lindsay's petrified expression , her chest was raising rapidly as she breathed heavily , her eyes were heavy with tears about to spill. Auria took her hand and squeezed them reassuringly

"Lindsay listen to me , everything is going to be okay , I promise you . I need to take care of this , as the princess of this Kingdom "

Lindsay stared at her intensely as she digested the news before she nodded slowly and shook her hand " okay...go "

Auria smiled lightly and ran outside , the streets were flooded with water and occupied only by the Grackulian knights and injured Fiareeians while a few hid in alleys and corners

"Everyone get to safety, right now " she yelled over the rain

A batch of Grackulians ran in her direction , she waved her arm sending a force that was sure to kill them. She ran in the direction they came killing a few of their knights along the way , she was searching for the beast himself , a loud bell echoed through the village , an alarm that announced all over Fiaree that they're under attack , moments later Fiareeian knights filled the village taking on the opposing knights with great skill.

"Don't let them get near the civilians " Auria instructed

A few gave her a wierd and confusing look , if only they knew she was their princess .
Five knights surrounded Auria with glowing swords in their hands , they slashed and agonizing pain struck her and she collapsed to her knees with a scream of agony

"Not so high and mighty now huh ? " One jeered

Auria forced herself up and stumbled to her feet , she took in calming breaths and focused on summoning as much energy as possible , her eyes glowed orange and five balls of fire surrounded her , with one snap of a finger they hit their target. Immediately dozen of knights stood before her and half a dozen behind her, she raised her arm and an orb materialized before she could release it a white beam struck the knights.
Auria looked up and a glowing figure hovered among the dark clouds, the figure descended and her breath hitched staring at him with confusion and fear

"A-Alyster ? " She called through a sharp gasp

"In the flesh princess " he said with a smug smile

He had on a silk pure white cotton track suit and was bare foot, there was something new about him , something that wasn't there before , Auria could feel the power that emitted from him , he looked angelic .

"Alyster ! " Shrieked Lindsay gaping at him

"Hey mom " he greeted casually landing gracefully on the cobblestone

Lindsay and Auria jumped him , hugging him tightly as they cried hysterically

"Okay okay I know you missed me but I have to breath , unless you want me to die a second time " he strained

"Oh my Aly , don't ever die like that again you hear me ? " Lindsay cried tightening the hug

"Yes mom " he drawled rolling his eyes

Auria laughed through the tears and did the same

"C-could I join ? " Asked a rough voice

They looked up at a man who stood before them drenched from the rain , Lindsay let go of Alyster and stumbled back as her hands shot to her mouth .
