Overprotection

Summary: The Knights of the Round Table are overprotective of Merlin and Mordred. The two Magicians need a break from them. When the opportunity presents itself they take it without a second thought.

◈ Merlin POV ◈

It was a late rally and I was thinking about what I was going to do with Mordred. I was preparing to travel with Mordred to get special herbs for Gaius.

These special herbs are hard to find and their growing place is about 3 days of horse travel from Camelot. So it will take us 6 days to travel there and back and it may take us 3 to 4 days to find these herbs.

There is a question why I am taking Mordred that me and not the whole round table. The answer is simple Mordred will help me gather herbs and he wants to learn more because he grew up with Druids.

Arthur, Lancelot, Leon, Elyan, Personal and Gwaine would bore to death and disturb us. The whole round table knows about my and Mordred's magic and even that doesn't stop their worries about me.

They start getting upset and worried about me when they don't see me for 20 minutes because they think I went to fight alone.

I knew they wouldn't let us go alone so we leave before sunrise and Gaius has us covered saying he sent us to get herbs not far away in the summer. He is supposed to tell them that he has a big shortage and it may take us a whole day to gather them.

This should give us the answer amount of time to save ourselves from Camelot and they won't chase us. However, I suspect they will try to catch up with us anyway. I know they are worried about us but sometimes they are to unbearable with their behavior.

I know that Mordred and I are the youngest, but that doesn't mean we don't know how to defend ourselves, and we're radarless in different situations. I told George beforehand to substitute for me in my absence and if Arthur asked where I was to tell him that Gaius needed my and Mordred's help with something.

I know they are worried about us getting caught doing magic, but we are always careful and always do it together while one of us is watching to make sure no one sees or hears us.

I can honestly say that our trip is also a break / vacation from our lives and tasks in Camelot. I hope everything will go according to plan and that we don't run into any difficulties, but I know that with Mordred we can handle them very well.

The next day

I woke up before the sun came up and grabbed my bag with my clothes, food, med kit and sleeping bag and headed for the stables. I kissed Gaius on the forehead and left him a note near the bed that I was leaving. When I got there I saw Mordred standing with two horses

'' Good morning Mordred '' I said

'' Good morning M '' he said with a smile and we jumped on our horses.

When we left through the gate we put our horses into a gallop to get away from Camelot im as fast as possible. We rode at a gallop for several hours and around noon we decided to take a break to let the horses rest and to eat something.

We found a suitable place between the trees and sat down on a blanket

'' From a scale of 1 to 10 how worried will they be when they find out about our expedition '' asked Mordred breaking the peaceful silence. I looked at him and saw that he was nervous

'' To be honest I think there is no such number on the scale. Mordred they have to learn that they can't control our lives and can't be with us 24 hours a day. It's physically impossible and they have to learn that not everything always goes their way. Both of us have magic and know how to fight so we are not without resourcefulness. This is also our break from the tasks and life in Camelot and don't tell me we don't need it. Mordred everything will be fine if they follow us I will tell them what I think about it and take all the blame on me. Believe that I can talk them out of any situation and make them feel bad '' I began to say
