Old Friend Part 1

Summary: A person from Merlin's past arrives to Camelot. It turns out that Merlin on still some secrets that Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table do not know about. They know about Merlin's magic and Arthur is the King.

◈ Merlin POV ◈

I held in my hands the amulet I received for my 13th birthday from Anna. Anna and I have been friends since I was a little girl. My and her mother Elizabeth were very good friends. The truth is that I was not born in Eldor.

We settled there when I was 15 after being evacuated from Celestial kingdom and 3 years later I came to Camelot. Mom used the medallion to make people think we had been living there forever. 

Anna was a princess and I was her future Court Warloc when she became Queen. Her father Orion and my father Balinor were best friends.

They wanted to make an arranged marriage between us at first, but soon realized that we would only see each other as brother and sister.

King Orion took on the role of my father when my dad went missing after being called for a request from King Uther. I am a few months older than her and to me she would always be a younger sister. I still want to laugh when I think of our reaction when they told us about it.

I thought my life would be connected only with the Celestial Kingdom and I had no problem with such a future course. Our lives took a terrible turn when the Kingdom was attacked by another Kingdom during Anna's 15th birthday.

Unfortunately, we were separated to keep us safe. Not many people knew that I would have sat on the Celestial throne if something had happened to the King, Queen and Princess. 

It was hard for us to separate, but we knew it was important for our safety, and we vowed that one day we would find each other. If only I had known that I would only see her in 10 years when she surprised me with a visit to my new workplace.

When I was 18 I came to Camelot to live with my uncle Gaius. He was to help me control my magic better because I had a little trouble with it and I was to learn medicine under him.

 I met Arthur on my second day in Camelot and I could be that he was childish, spoiled, unkind, and not responsible. I could safely blame Uther for spoiling him.

Arthur found out about my magic 5 years ago during one of the hunting trips where the two of us were on a hunt.

 We were attacked by a group of bandits and I had to use it to save his life. To my surprise, Arthur did not aggregate aggressively as I suspected but smiled at me.

He let me explain to him why I train magic and why I do it in Camelot. After telling him everything aside from my life in Celestial Arthur said he has known about my magic for several weeks.

He said he was waiting for me to trust him to tell him my secret, but I immediately set him straight that it wasn't that I didn't trust him. I said seriously that I trust him with my life and nothing would change that.

I didn't want to put him in a situation where he would have to choose between me and his father. It would have been wrong of me. Arthur hugged me tightly and swore me to secrecy. From then on, Arthur talked to me and Gaius about types of magic, magical creatures and related topics.

It's been two years since Arthur became King and set up a Round Table for his most loyal advisors. What surprised me was that I had that I had a seat at the table. At first I wanted to refuse but Arthur, Leon, Lancelot, Elyan, Gwaine, Persival, Mordred, Gwen and Morgana gave me no choice.
