Dragon Lord

Summary: When Merlin became the Dragon Lord after his dad's death, he didn't expect what consequences it would bring. He didn't know the more dragons he was associated with the more of their qualities he would receive. The question is how Arthur and the rest of the knights will react to this when they find out.

◈ Merlin POV ◈

Did you ever wondering how one event will change your life forever. It happened to me and all that I let the dragon out from under the castle. Because Kilgharrah decided to take revenge on Utrer for imprisoning him he decided to burn Camelot. 

This led to me and Arthur being sent on a mission to find the last Dragon Lord Balinor. Before we left Gaius told me that he was my Father. When I met him he didn't want to help us but after I mentioned it Gaius followed us. I told him about my mother and he guessed that I was his son.

He told me a few things about dragons but most of the night we talked about my mother, me and my life in Camelot. What I didn't expect was that I would lose him from my life as quickly as he returned to it. Through his death, I gained the gift of Dragon Lord, which is lost from father to son. 

I managed to send the last dragon away and forbade him to return until I summoned him again. When Arthur regained consciousness I managed to trick him into thinking that he had killed Kilgharrah. To my surprise but not really he did not ask where the dragon's body was.

The kingdom celebrated the dragon's death and I, with Gaius in his chamber, mourned the loss of the father I had only just met. 

However, one thing that comforts me is that he said he was proud of me and was happy that I was his son. He also told me to never give up and to always fight for what I believe is important.

It's been probably 5 months since I noticed changes in me. I noticed that my balance, reflexes, eyesight, hearing and sense of smell had improved. I became stronger and gained more muscle. I used magic to hide the changes in my body and Gaius said I was sick and it gave me more than a week to get used to the changes in my senses.

Every time someone came to visit me it looked like I was asleep and I made myself look paler than normal. Arthur noticed that I was better at avoiding things thanks to my reflexes, but I said I had learned to avoid better. 

I stopped being so clumsy and explained that I had been practicing to improve my balance. I called Kilgharrah to ask him what was wrong with me. He said that because I had become his Lord I was receiving dragon qualities and was becoming more like a dragon. He also told me not to be surprised that I would appear with wings and scales on my body.

Fortunately, I will be able to hide the wings in me and when I have them hidden a tattoo will appear on my squares and the scales I can hide thanks to a spell from him. Not exactly hide but if someone touches me they won't feel them. 

When someone grabbed my hand, for example, he wouldn't feel anything else. As he said two weeks later wings appeared and after that scales. Quite quickly I mastered the art of flying and it is my favorite way to relax.

Being a Dragon Lord has been a blessing and a curse for me. It has made me stronger, faster, my senses have improved and my magic has become stronger. 

On the bad side, I have to guard myself with my strength because I am ten times stronger than a human, I get headaches when I am in a lot of noise for a long time and my back hurts when I have my wings retracted for a long time.

Since I hid that I also have dragon instincts which fortunately I can control except once a year. At this time I give Arthur pronouncements such as: I have to help my mother at home, I have to do something for Gaius, I set out to find and collect special herbs for Gaius and so on.
