Chapter 5: The Danger He Sensed

"WHAT IS THAT!" The science teacher screamed as he walked into the room with a petrified look on his face.

"Nelson might've accidentally spilt some chemicals.. and they mixed together and created a portal of some sort." Flare replied, also looking petrified.

"No, no, NO!" The science teacher screamed as he tried cleaning up the puddle. "They said they never figured out the chemical mixtures to create a dimensional rift! Why did this happen, what did you MIX! They've been researching this for years, yet it's.. it was all in this ROOM!"
Before the science teacher could react, a tentacle the same as the very first one came out of the puddle, grabbing his knee and lifting him up in the air.

"Someone save the teacher!" James says as he activates his special crystal technique.
He transforms 1 of his 4 crystals into a staff and runs at top speeds towards the tentacle. Shortly after, he hits it at brute force, causing it to throw the science teacher across the room. Grace catches him, saying something in the process.
"Evacuate all the students by pulling the fire alarm, then tell the police force about this!"
"But what about you guys! I cant leave young children here!" The science teacher replies with a frightened look.

"James is here, and he's probably the strongest person in this school! We only need the police force now!" Nelson yells across the room as he activates his rage mode.

(To explain rage mode, its basically the Fallen race linking their emotions to their body and only taking in angry emotions, shortly after taking it in, they form it into dark energy which they can then use to increase speed, strength, and abilities.)

"Why do I feel like my energy is being drained little by little?" Lila says in confusion. "Looks like the portal is too much for regular beings like us to experience, it has to close soon otherwise were done for!" James yells across the room. Not long after, the science teacher runs out the room and pulls the fire alarm, causing all the students to leave the classroom in a panic.

"LAURUS! CALL THE POLICE FORCE NOW!" The science teacher screams. "Why, what happened?" The principal replied. "They, THEY OPENED A PORTAL!" The science teacher exclaims, panting in the midst of his sentence. "They opened a portal to another dimension, and some squid tentacles starting appearing out of nowhere! I don't care if you believe it or not, call the department like NOW!"

"Okay guys, listen here. Flare, Erik, Eli, and Lila, i've never seen what you guys can do, so stay on the defense, me, Grace, B1 and Nelson will try to get rid of all the tentacles and close the portal using our abilities!" James shouts. "This thing isn't humanoid, but it might be extremely smart! Don't underestimate it."
More and more tentacles started coming out of the portal 1 by 1, starting with 4, then 5, then 6. The offensive squad began using their techniques; Grace using her basic flame attacks, B1 using a special form of combat, James using a staff of crystal, and Nelson using his rage mode.

As they continue to cut down the tentacles, the hundreds of students in the school continue to exit the building chaotically after seeing no fire but realizing its not a drill. The battle from the science room just causes even more chaos as the tentacles hit walls and latch onto items to throw.
"NELSON, HES THROWING A DESK!" Grace screams. "Im on it, gimme a second!" Nelson replied, as he struggled to get past a few tentacles. Unfortunately, he was unable to reach the tentacle and it threw the desk straight at the defensive team. Luckily, Flares fight or flight instincts kicked in last second, and he completely kicks the desk to the other side of the room, dropping on the floor shortly after. Although he held his foot in pain, he felt a pure rush of adrenaline spreading throughout his body, as if he was the strongest person on earth.
"God, what was that Flare?!" Lila asked. "I honestly don't even know, my body kinda just, moved on its own!" Flare answered.

Meanwhile, James and the others kept fighting the tentacles. He used his staff and sharpened it with his crystal forming to slice off the tentacles, moving quickly yet with amazing precision. As he jumped down from the desk after cutting a tentacle, he left one foot slightly above the ground so he could block the incoming tentacle on the far right with it. He blocks it and manages to slice off the tentacle, then keeps his foot in the air and uses his left foot and right arm to spring up and throw a shard at a tentacle to distract it enough for B1 to kick the top part of it off.
B1 continues to punch and kick the tentacles with tons of strength put into his hits, as if the metal on his body was as durable as diamond. He punched the left tentacle, then the right tentacle, then the middle tentacle twice, using the most power as possible. He grabbed one of the tentacles and spun it around, hitting and cutting a tentacle group that appeared around him.

On the opposite end was Grace, who seemed to be using her flames to burn the tentacles to crisps. She shot one burst of a small flame at a tentacle to the left of her, then caused it to expand by adding more and more energy to it. She consistently did this to all tentacles she was fighting until eventually they burnt to ash. Nelson, on the other hand was going in with pure brute force and completely annihilated all the tentacles. Flare thought to himself "our powers are so hard to control, so how come he's able to control them out of all people?"
He watched Nelson more and more and realized the form he was currently in helped him save energy and control his power perfectly, and he had heard about it.

"Guys, something big is coming out of that portal, we should start running!" B1 yelled. "Im praying to the mythical god that they actually called the police force instead of just running away!"
