Chapter 18: Evolving

"So, the demons name is Sentiria, and she is apparently the demons right hand woman? I didn't even know that thing could create conscious beings like that." Chase said.
"Yeah, and she is probably in the city right now, cause we managed to outrun her and loose her here overnight." Grace replied. The group recently met up with Kylario Embers, Lila Yorins, and the police captain, Chase, specifically because Chase thought they would help drastically with defeating the demon. He was also taking into consideration what would happen after the current situation is dealt with, and if they could be trained to join the police force just like him.
"All units, be aware that there is a zombie spawn from the demon who has large horns, 4 tentacles on her back, and a 4 sided diamond in the middle of her chest. She is extremely intelligent and may be difficult to deal with. Code 48, do not apprehend." Chase said into his communicator.
"What does code 48 mean?" Flare asked. "Its basically just a term meaning theres an enemy on our radar that has unknown powers, which is why I said they shouldn't apprehend. We've been in many situations like these before, for example that one time there was a giant soul creature attacking the city." He replied.
"I honestly don't remember that but alright." James said arrogantly.
The group decided they would hang out in a building for a little bit rather than standing out in the open and vulnerable to attacks from enemies. They entered the nearest one and climbed until they found a safe room. What they didn't know was that the demon felt extreme amounts of life force coming from Chase specifically and was beginning to send a few zombies after them.

"So, what are we going to do now? Do we wait for the military to finish the nuke they had planned to make, or do we attack head on?" B1-35 asked. "A nuke? Whats a nuke?" Ella asked. Silence filled the room as everyone stared at her, not believing what she just asked.
"Aren't you siblings with Erik and Eli? Shouldn't you be like, really smart?" Nelson asked.
"Uhhh— I don't know. I just wanna find out what nuke means. Sounds like it would blow up!"
"Shes kind of just the opposite of us. I don't know why, but she was just never bright in the head." Erik said. The chatting continued for quite some time, however Flare was having some trouble. He kept on having weird visions about some guy with flames for a head, as if he was trying to take over his body. It kept his head throbbing constantly and it got worse and worse. He couldn't take it anymore, it completely stopped him from actually even doing anything, even speaking up about it, and since he had already been through so much pain considering what happened to his arm, he genuinely felt like ending his own life at that moment. The migraine kept pumping and , and then it just suddenly stopped. A loud crash could be heard from outside the hallway, signifying that someone or something made its way inside.
"Did you guys hear that?" Grace exclaimed. Chase, Ella, and Ky all ran out the room to check the hallway, and found a horde of zombies coming straight for them, which undoubtedly freaked them out.
"We need to get out of here right now!" Chase shouted as he shot flames and lightning down the hallway as fast as he could. Everyone began running out of the room quickly, following Ky as he signaled them to move as fast as possible. They ran to the stairs and went down, while Chase blocked off the entrances as they ran, slowing the zombies down just barely. Flying zombies were outside the building, gliding around it and breaking through windows trying to as hard as possible to capture Chase and the others and wipe them of their life force.
"Okay, what do we do now? We're completely surrounded by flying thingies, and a horde is right after us!" Flare said as he ran in pain. "I'll think of something, don't worry." Ky answered. They made their way down to the 2nd floor just to see that the entrance to the building had been blocked, meaning they'd most likely have to go to the underground level they saw earlier.

"Chase! Chase! Come in!" Someone on Chase's communicator said. "I hear you!" Chase replied frantically.
"Good news and bad news! The good news is, the president and most of the army are finally coming in to help with the city catastrophe, and they have the nuke almost fully finished thanks to that kids smart idea! Bad news is, the demon has just grown in size, and it's bigger than regular buildings now! We desperately need some sort of backup, we haven't lost any police force members but we have lost a few military soldiers!" The unknown person shouted. Chase was silent for a good few seconds, thinking of what he should do to not only by his force some time to create a rendezvous point, but to save their lives at the same time.
"Im transferring channels to alert everyone with this message, i'll contact you later!" Chase shouted back. Meanwhile, the group was at the 1st floor and had to fight off a small horde of zombies that were ahead of them at the time. Ky and Ella managed to work together to get rid of them, while the teenagers stayed back. They continued to the ground level and Chase finally got time to say his message.
"Attention ALL police force members who are currently in the city! We have been alerted about the Presidents imminent arrival and we are aware of the demons growth in size and power. DO NOT APPREHEND THE DEMON. I repeat, do NOT apprehend, a rendezvous point is in the works, and we need all of your cooperation at this moment. I want you guys to do one thing for me, leave the city as fast as you can. Inform everyone you can to leave now, as we are even lucky to have had 0 police force casualties. That number should not go up, and I don't want it to. I repeat this message to all of you, that is a code 50, leave this city at once!" Chase shouted into his radio as loud as he could. All the police force member in the city heard it loud and clear, and police cars could be seen heading to the exterior areas of the city.
Okay, now that's taken care of, just one more thing." Chase said.
"Dude, we're trapped. Theres no way out." James said. "Unless you have a plan police force captain?"
"I do, but it's between 3 of my powers in my shard. I need some time to think."
"We don't have time!" Flare screamed, looking at the horde of zombies that was apprehending them. Suddenly, Chase fully focused himself into the situation, and began doing something incredible.

Firstly, he used the slime shard and placed a strand of slimy mucus in front of where he was standing that would act as a blockade for the zombies, then he used the metal shard mixed in with the slime shard to jump straight through the roof back up to the first floor, where he then dealt with all the zombies using the air shard, pushing all the zombies back to save time for them to get out. Finally, he used the elastic shard to grab onto everyone below and pull them up very quickly. He was instantly drained of life force due to the amount of shard abilities he used within that small time period.
"Let's get out of here!" Nelson told everyone. They then bursted through the front door of the building and immediately saw the demon, which was indeed taller than most buildings where they were. It was nearly the size of the large buildings in the expensive region of the city, however it was miles away and it was quite hard to tell. They pushed their attention to getting out of the city again, but it was too late, as the zombie horde was already surrounding them and was fully prepared to attack.
"Captain Chase! Use the elastic shard, my data on it says it can make any material or thing bouncy!" B1 said. "You're right! Everyone hang on!" Chase said as he touched the cement. The floor immediately became elastic and bouncy, as if it were a trampoline with quadruple the elastic strength. Chase tested it a little while Ky and Ella fought off the zombies. "Everyone, on my count, jump! When we jump I will increase the elasticity as much as I can, and we will go flying, be ready!" Chase shouted at everyone. He then counted down from, and when he got to 1, everyone jumped as high as possible.
When they landed on the trampoline-like cement, they instantly went soaring to the end of the, with the wind blowing into their faces like a tornado. Chase used the air shard to push himself forward, then used the slime shard to create a soft fall on the ground below. They all dropped into a giant slime cube without any injuries whatsoever.
"This would be a great rendezvous point for all the police force actually. I cant believe how lucky we got." Chase said to himself. The area they landed looked as if it was a recent battlefield, which was correct, as this was where Flare and the others fought the sentient.
"This place is quite familiar." B1 said as he looked at Grace, chuckling. She laughed too.
"All units, a meeting point has been made, I'm sending my location right now, meet me here. If any civilians or army soldiers are unaware of the point, inform them or take them with you." Chase said into his communicator, as he used flames to start a campfire.

"Aww man.. why did this have to happen right in the middle of winter! It's so cold.." Grace said as she shivered and moved closer to Flare. She asked Flare how his arm was doing so far.
"Oh, well it feels better but it was difficult to run with, and it definitely hurt much more than I expected when we were up in the air. Actually, I'm really glad you asked, cause it feels much more powerful than normal and I've wanted to tell someone." He exclaimed. "What do you mean by powerful? Do you feel more heat going through it, or it just feels stronger and ready to perform normally again?" She asked. "It's hard to explain, but it's a good thing I guess."
"Well, I'm just happy you're feeling okay again." She said as she smiled and put both hands on her cheeks.
Overtime, more and more police force members came flooding in, and eventually, everyone was out of the city and waiting for the president to get to the meeting point.
"LOOK!" Someone shouted. The person pointed at the city, where the demon seemed to be grabbing one of the biggest buildings in the city and making it crumble to the ground in only a matter of seconds.
"Let's hope they have that bomb almost ready. Things could get really bad, really fast, any second now." Chase said to everyone staring at the city.
