3 left... Only Emma, Laura and me. Aiden sacrificed his self, Ryan and Sarah got killed, Jen commited suicide and Jay dissapeared. What are we going to do?
All power is shut down. The food in the refrigerator is spoiled, we can't see a thing at night and we cannot call for help online. We're lost souls.
I look out of the window to see the zombies walk by. I see a small kid walking by, with only one arm. Behind him walk two half dead people. They never look inside, and even if they did, they could not harm us. The glass is too thick to break through, and the door is blocked again with a closet.
I feel my heart pounding in my chest. I don't know how long this will continue. A few more days? Maybe a week? What is even the point... I might as well just cut my throat, just like Jen. I'm not going to survive anyways... Laura looks at me as if she can read my mind.
"Kayleigh, please do not give up.." She says as she sits down next to me. "You know I need you, and Emma does too. It will not be long. I'm sure the army will help us!" "At least if they are still alive." I look down to my hands. Laura puts her arms around me and the emotions are shooting through my body like bullets of a machine gun. One by one, first my arms, than my legs and than my head. It hurts, and all I want to do is cry.
Now Emma is looking out the window, ignoring our speaking.
"We got to go." She suddenly speaks.
"What's wrong?" Laura's voice cracks because of the emotions.Loud banging could be heard at the door as she spoke. "The zombies, they're here!" Emma yells. We take our knives and run to the back door, which is also blocked with a closet. When we slide the closet aside, we hear the zombies crashing through the front door. "They're in!" I yell to inform the rest, even though they probably heard it already. We run outside the back door right into the garden. It's a small garden, with some planters on the sides. We only have to walk a few meters before we reach the gate, which is still unlocked. We never locked it. We run to the gate and start pushing, but it's not working.
"You have to pull!" Laura opens the gate. It leads to a narrow alley, with walls of bricks. On the wall is written with blood: 'they will take us all'. It gives a chill. We start running through the alley, but get stopped by a harsh sound. Emma's scream cuts through the air like sharpened knives. We turn around and see blood dripping down her black shirt. She collapses and cries. "Help!"
We run as fast as we can to Emma and grab her arms to pull her out of the alley. But it slows us down too much. "The zombies are catching up, you have to leave me here!" Emma cries. "No, we're not going to lose another one!" Laura keeps pulling, but I stop. "Laura, we have no choice. The zombies will kill us if we don't leave her now." I say, knowing this means that I kill Emma. Laura takes a deep breath, and gentilly lays down the arm of Emma, at the same time as I do.
Behind us we hear how Emma gets killed, the sound of knives cutting through her body. The sound of blood spatter on the ground. The sound of cries and choking.
I run into the street where the alley ended, followed by Laura. It makes no sense to run anymore. We turn right on a corner, running next to eachother. But the cries of Emma have attracted the attention of countless zombies. The ones who chase us will almost be here.
We're dead.
"We're surrounded..." I say disappointed, and I sit down to the ground. Laura looks around a few times to see if there's an escape, but alas. "This is the end." She says, and she sits down next to me.
"I never thought it would end like this." Our eyes fill with tears, and we look at each other. Again shoot hundreds of emotions through me. I hope they kill me first, so I don't have to see Laura die.
I look up, 5 clouds. No, 6. One of the clouds reminds me of a fox and a wolf, playing together.
1 fox. Me.
1 wolf. Laura. In our rich fantasies that's us. Fighting side by side. We experienced adventures together, we shared our emotions here. That world, I would like once more to return. "L-let's go to Septoria, for the last time." Laura nods and closes her eyes. A peaceful sight.
And I close my eyes. A ray of light drives me farther and teleports me to the world of fantasy. Around me begin to form the large grasslands, then the trees, the plants. In that order, just as always. The peaceful sight. There she stands, a beautiful wolf. A coat as black as the sky would be without the moon.
A violent jolt of pain shoots through me, but I try to ignore it. I try to stay focused at the lands of another universe.
A peacefull death...
