So now here we are, stuck in my house with the dead body of my mother. Nothing to defend ourselves but the kitchen knives. And the worst of all, we are running out of food supplies! So that will mean we have to go outside. Outside to the danger. We'll have to risk our lives, to save our lives.
"So.. What are we going to do now?" Laura asked, staring at the door. Her long, brown hair is full with tangles and her clothes are bloody. She was standing behind my mother when her head got brutaly split in two. Suddenly Sarah starts crying. "There's nothing we can do! We'll be going to die. If the cause is not starving it will be those monsters outside!" She's right.. There is nothing we can do.. But crying is not going to help either. "We have to try to get food." Jays' voice sounds calm. His voice always sounds calm.. How can he always remain calm? "Yeah, and how are we supposed to do that while the creatures are outside?" Emma replied. She has a point. "Look, if you're not going, I will. I don't want to die without a fight." "And I will go with you." said Aiden. Ofcourse Aiden will go with him. He loves action. "We should all go," I said. "we have more chance if we're with all of us." The children agree and stand up. Everyone has chosen a knife by now, mine is thin and sharp. We put our knives on eachother as some kind of a 'high five'. "Let's do this." The first time Jen says something. She never talks a lot, and when she does it's very soft. She seems to be shy.
We look at the door, which has been closed for.. I have no idea how long. We closed the curtains on the same day as we arrived here, so I have no idea how it's like outside. We will see the outside air for the first time since days, and I'm afraid for what's behind that door. The dark green door which has not been touched since. Ryan steps forward. He pushed the closet in front of the door and will remove it now too. He puts his hands around the closet and starts pulling it, making it move towards us really fast. The closet is blocking our way, so we have to climb over it one by one. But Sarah doesn't. She keeps standing still. "Sarah are you coming?" Jay said, looking concerned at her. "W-What if they are standing behind the door? We have no chance against them with our short knives and gymnastic clothes... They will rip us apart or worse!" she replies, making us all think. What IF they are standing behind the door? Waiting for us to come out? What if everyone else out there is infected or killed? But we can't give up now. "Just, open the door already. We have to go anyway." Laura said. But I can see in her face that she's scared. And she should be. I am too, this might be the last light I'll see. "Okay, I open the door in 3.." We stand ready with our knives. "2.." Aiden puts his hands on the door handle. "1..." The door swings open.
