It was quiet in the library of the soul Realm. It usually was. Well- except for when three dead siblings possessing dolls came running through, shortly followed by an exhausted leader and the literal son of death. Usually because of some shenanigans caused by the button eyed Isadoll, Kuki learned. He couldn't remember half the things that doll had caused, from burnings to breakings to, and he quotes, "DISECTING A FUCKING DEMON BECAUSE YOU WERE BORED?!?!" ... Yep, usually something like that. He shook his head at the memorable incident, that one had led to QUITE a bit of cleanup. Skimming through and sorting books was a calm compared to that storm, one might say even cathartic. That being said, it did get tedious at times. You'd think that the books would be sorted and that was that all done! But NOPE! With every new book written, good or not, it would be stored in the library to be sorted. Kuki cursed whichever soul leader of the past thought it a great idea to put that enchantment into place.
Kuki continued to mumble curses as he organized the seemingly never-ending books, not even realizing as a certain tired potato-man crept up behind him. "Hey, Kuki?-" "AH FUCK!" He shouted, dropping a few novels in the process before turning around to face Alex. "Could you kindly not scare me to life?" He asked, feeling his 'body' shake back to a semi-normal form. Alex chuckled and scratched the back of his head, "My bad. Sorry, I should've made myself known sooner! Maybe then you'd stop swearing as if children don't come here." Alex folded his arms, motioning to the child souls that would wander through the library for books. Kuki was silent for a moment ".... Okay, first of all, fuck you. Second of all, they barely count as kids with how long they've been here." Alex shrugged and nodded in slight agreement before going back to his typical stance.
"Look, that aside a letter came for you. Don't know who wrote it, but I figured you'd want to know..." Alex seemed a bit anxious as he handed over a letter sealed in what looked like wax. Kuki looked at it. For about FIIIIVE seconds before tossing it as though it were nothing but a pebble. "Burn it." He said, before moving away. Alex, struggling to catch the letter, followed after the lad before he lost sight of him. "You haven't even read it; it might be important. You don't even want to look?" Alex spoke a tone Kuki couldn't quite label as he sighed and snatched the letter before Alex could continue on with his babbling. "*Ahem* Dear Kuki Balor, you are hereby invited to the annual family reunion of the Balors! Blah blah blah we hope you shall attend! Blah blah blah, signed Draven Balor." He finished then looked at Alex with a raised brow, "Happy?" The nonchalance of Kuki's voice leaves Alex speechless for a moment. "Well, are you going to go?" Alex asked after a moment of silence and was met with an immediate "No." From Kuki.
"Why? Hasn't it been a long time since you've seen them?" The tired looking man asked. He looks older and less tired than last he saw though... "It has, and should my day go how I plan, it will go on as longer!" He said with his full chest. Alex sighed, turning slightly away. "Well okay. It's a shame though, would've thought you'd show up to prove a point or something..." That caught Kuki's attention. He turned and glared at his leader "What point would that be, hm?" He felt an anger rising in him he honestly hadn't quite feeling for years. Alex looked unimpressed. "I mean... If it were me, and someone I don't like.... Well, I'd show up just to spite them that yes, I am still here and VERY happy!" It came out unnaturally natural Kuki felt, but before he could question it further, Alex left.
And so here he was, sitting at an elongated table with his family. And he's already angry with himself for entertaining even the thought of being here. "My my, look who finally showed to one of these! It's been what, two, three millennia? ~" Kuki didn't even have to look over to respond. "Hello, Kai. I can't say I missed hearing your voice..." He sighed reluctantly, glancing at Kai. Despite looking nearly identical, Kuki and his twin brother Kai were unmistakably different. From their voices to their personalities. Hell, even the way they smiled differed from each other. He glanced around the table. Not many were here, surprisingly. Only Kai, the triplets, and.... Her...
He eyes her like a hawk, as she sits and clinks a spoon to her glass. "Hello siblings, I'm glad you could all join me in this year's reunion." She smiles, a plastic, calculated expression. Kuki didn't breathe, but if he did, he was sure if his would be held as he watched her every move. She didn't seem to notice him thus far, too occupied with the triplets... Good. He didn't want her to notice his pres- "Oh, and hello over there. It's been some time Kuki. I'd almost forgotten you!" Her voice drips with a sickeningly sweet venom. He should have left earlier. "Hello Karin, it has been some time." Focus Kuki, find an opening and leave. "I must ask, what made you finally come around? Last I heard you pretended we didn't exist and wanted nothing to do with us..." She looked down at her nails, but the smirk failed to leave her lips.
Kuki sat uncomfortably as he felt his sibling's eyes look at him. "I figured I should show my face at least once more... Seeing as you still use the same invitations despite Draven Balor burning in hell as we speak." That wiped the smirk off her face. She always hated when he would disrespect the man they knew as their father, but this was the quickest way out of the scenario. "But seeing as it doesn't seem to be of concern, I should be going-" "Before you go!" she interrupted, a venomous smile plastered across her face, "I've heard you've been making connections. Strong ones. Do tell, have you not the intention of sharing the details with your family?" He stopped. Turning and smiling as best he could he replied simply, "Alright then, Karin. Afterwards I simply must be off." He could feel her eyes on him. "To answer your question, you could say I have. Though 'connections' is a bit of a dull way to say I've found myself friends. Anyways, toodaloo!" Just as he was about to leave, he heard her mutter, "I wonder how some of those "friends" of yours will bleed at your hands, Kenneth..." Snap. It went blank. He remembered the feeling of grabbing Karin by the neck, squeezing with enough force to have killed a human. "Listen here," his voice was low and cold, "first of all, my name is Kuki NOT Kenneth and you better fucking remember that, secondly if you so much as look at them wrong... I will shove you into a body only to kill you a second time. Do you understand me?" There was silence before a chuckle rang out. "Yes, yes. I understand perfectly clear! After all, who am I to doubt someone who killed us all in the first place...." There was silence for a moment, before Kuki got up and left.
Back in Alex's office, Kuki slammed the door open. "GAAAH! Holy shit, Kuki the fuck?-" Alex barely finished his sentence before Kuki had slammed his fist against the desk. Alex blinked for a moment, exhaustion and confusion painting his face. "Don't you ever try talking me into visiting my family again." Was all he muttered. Alex shook his head "What are you talking about, Kuki?" "Don't play dumb with me Alexander!" Okay, yep. He was pissed. "Kuki, I'm not trying to play dumb. But I don't remember ever trying to talk anyone into seeing their family. Especially not you, I've seen their files." Kuki blinked in surprise. "Their files? What files?" He was getting a bit worried. Alex sighed and pulled some random filed from his desk. "When a soul ends up here, be in temporarily or permanently, it is the leader of the realm's job to look through and properly fill out files on the soul, from their personality to their choices in life to circumstances. It's all on file." Alex sorted the filed papers and tucked them neatly back into their drawer. "One minute, you gave me a letter from my family the other day and convinced me to meet with them though, I saw with my own..." Kuki paused for a moment. Alex had seemed different that day... "...Kuki?" "If that wasn't you Alex, then who the fuck was in the library?..."
