Things between and I and Steve went back to normal- or at least normal on his end.
I couldn't stop feeling like he truly wasn't in my corner. I decided to blame it on the stress and being pregnant, but I was so hurt, deep to my core. I just couldn't understand, with all of his experience shouldn't he know that it's best not to upset pregnant women?
So I decided to go home. It was a welcome change to be back at the lady den. Alanna and I reveled in my return.
"So I've been working on my event planning business plan," she told me.
We were spending time in the living room watching a movie together.
"Oooh! What do you have so far?"
She cleared her throat. "I need $10,000 for start up costs. $1,000 for business licensing and stuff, $2,500 for a course that includes master ballooning, backdrops, and general education, $5,000 for equipment, and $1,500 for a little trailer I can hitch to my car."
"10,000 isn't bad for start up. That's awesome Alanna, you've got this really all planned out!"
"Girl, yes. I'm hoping to get this money soon. I want to really start promoting myself, so your baby shower has to absolutely spectacular."
"I don't think that's going to be hard, you decorated my gender reveal gorgeous. And our generation loves outlandish parties!"
"We sure do. So, tell me what did you have in mind?"
"Well the baby is due in May so I was thinking of doing the shower in Early April and have a spring, garden themed party. I wanna play on the idea of April showers bring May flowers."
Alanna looked at me with the cutest smile. "Christian that is so cute!"
"I know," I said as my eyes started welling up. I looked down to hold my belly. I'd be holding my little flower sooner than I knew it.
"Okay, I'm going to start looking at pinterest for inspiration. I'll have a checklist for you to check off. This theme- ooh girl you don't know what you just did, this baby shower is about to be GAWGEOUS!"
I laughed. Alanna had already whipped out her laptop and was typing away furiously.
"All I really need from you is your guest count and a set date. I'm thinking 100 people and obviously a Saturday."
"100 guests?! Alanna, I barely know 100 people. You're like the only friend I have."
"Girl, I am not. Well, I mean, I am the closest, but we have other friends from high school who would love to come support you. Don't worry I'll invite the old squad. It'll be so cute."
"Okay, but lets keep the number around 80, maybe less at that. And nothing too expensive."
She rolled her eyes and scoffed. "Hasn't Steve been pressuring you about being the bigger person to Michael?"
"Yeah?"
"So, girl he's got to pay, and pay he shall, for everything you, Priscilla and I want," She smiled deviously before rolling into a maniacal cackle.
"You are so bad," I yell throwing a pillow at her.
"Girl, don't even worry about it. Your gender reveal was handled, right? This shall be too. Just worry about you and the baby, your outfit and looking good. Oh! I'm also going to find a maternity photographer cause we've got to have pictures of you up at the party."
I hadn't even thought about maternity photos. Of course I would have to do them, there was no way I'd want to forget this journey.
