Monday. A new school year, which meant of course, a new defense against the dark arts teacher. She first had transfiguration, which was fun, but Emily had to go back in time to also do potions 4th year, and after that, she had divination, again going back in time to also do muggle studies, this time Hermione and Emily went together. After lunch the third year slytherins and gryffindors had potions, which Emily got some points for gryffindor for the best potion in the class. Then they had a 10 minute break before defense against the dark arts. With the new teacher.

When she entered the class 5 minutes early the new teacher looked up surprised. "No need to take out your books, we're going to do a practical lesson today," Emily tried to hide her surprise, as that was the first time they were going to do a practical - not counting the pixies Lockhart freed in the classroom last year -.

She recognized the professor, she saw him in one of her father's pictures of him and his friends as her mum was reading a book. He was Remus Lupin. The werewolf. Emily had been taught not to prejudice werewolves and other magical creatures, so she was fine. Then the rest of the class came filing in. Professor Lupin started the lesson, "Hello everyone, I am Professor Lupin, and today there is no need to get out your books. It is a practical." everyone did as they were told, this could be interesting, "Now, who could tell what is in here," the professor indicated towards a wardrobe that had bumps in it, and Emily's hand went up faster that Hermione's, "Yes Miss Black," Professor Lupin asked.

"It is a boggart, sir. Nobody knows the true shape of a boggart, because as soon as the door opens, it takes the form of what the person fears most. There is a spell that can turn the boggart into something amusing, and it is called the 'riddikulus charm'. Laughter however, actually destroys the boggart." Emily finished. The whole class was staring at her, probably surprised that she knew this. "Very well. Good job Miss Black. 20 points to gryffindor. Now without your wands please. Repeat after me. Ridikulus," The class repeated it and soon they were ready to face it. Emily was after Parvati in the line, and Neville was up front. "What is your greatest fear Neville?"

"Professor Snape..." Neville whispered.

"What did you say?" Professor Lupin asked.

"Professor Snape," Neville whispered a but louder. The whole class laughed, except for Emily. Emily caught Neville's eye and sent him a small smile. "Now, you live with your grandmother right?"

"Yeah, but I don't want it to turn into her either." Neville squeaked. Professor Lupin whispered something in Neville's ear and neville nodded. He was ready. The Professor turned on some music and opened the wardrobe door. Professor Snape walked out at Neville, "Neville now!" Lupin shouted, "Ridikulus!" came out of Neville's mouth and not 2 seconds later Professor Snape was in Neville's grandmother's clothes. This time everybody in the laughed, and even Neville dared to crack a grin. "Parvati now!" As Parvati stepped forwards, the boggart turned into a giant cobra. "Ridikulus!" Parvati shouted and the cobra turned into clown in the box.

It was Emily's turn now. The boggart turned into a, well, not a true shape, but after a minute, it turned into a dementor. "Ridikulus!" Emily exclaimed and the dementor was suddenly pink, and it tripped, the hood falling of, and it was a unicorn head. Emily suppressed a snort.

She walked to the back of the line, and eventually, it was Harry's turn. It turned into a dementor, but before Harry could do something, Lupin stepped in front of him, the dementor turned into a full moon, and Professor Lupin non-verbally turned it into a balloon, and the class laughed. The boggart was gone. "Class dismissed. Miss Black, I would like you to stay behind in class."

The class filed out of the classroom and Emily stayed behind, "Yes Professor?"

"How are you the daughter of Sirius Black, he used to be one of my best friends, until he became a traitor. He never told me of a child." Lupin questioned.

"That is because he never loved me, and they kept it a secret for everyone. He always loved Potter more than me, so he never told anybody about me." Emily said with a frown.

"Oh," was all that came out of Lupin's mouth.

"Am I free to go?" Emily questioned. Lupin nodded. When Emily was out of the classroom he whispered to himself, "Merlin, why did Sirius not tell us? Is she telling the truth?"
