Violet's POV:
Right before me was a bloody mess. Blood over my own shirt, my hands, and who knows what else. I looked up and there was a massive wolf, injured. To my left, Eric, also injured. But he was dying. "Eric?" I questioned, he needed a tourniquet for his arm.
"Thank you," he coughed.
I felt a nudge against me, jumping back. Upon touch, I knew this was Miles. I remembered seeing him shift. So he was a wolf. "He needs help," I looked into his eyes. I saw his pain, his concern I would run. But I would stay by his side, I felt safe with him. I glided my hand over his fur.
Miles's eyes seemed to glaze over, and not soon after Susan came rushing out with a belt to form a tourniquet. "I'm coming dear! And the pack doctor is on their way."
I stepped back, allowing Susan to work, her hands shaking. I gently placed my own on her shoulder, "You've got this, it's okay."
"I'm here, I'm here," I recognized Sam. He was with another man who opened up a briefcase to administer medication to Eric. I presumed pain medication.
"Sam, carry our Alpha to surgery. I will get this man here," the other man ordered. And I stayed with Susan, watching them carry both away.
"Miss," Susan quietly said. "Your friend Jenny would like to see you."
Jenny! How could I have forgotten? Wait, I was in the kitchen and somehow ended up here. "What happened?"
"I... I think it best that Miles tell you," Susan lowered her head. I guess as the maid, her tongue was tied.
Jenny was sitting in a breakfast nook, clearly shaken. "Jenny?" I asked. Her head jolted towards me, her body quivering. "You're safe here."
Jenny scooted herself into the corner. "Stop, please," Jenny pleaded.
I held my hands up. "I'm not going to hurt you. You know me," I reminded her. "Do you want to talk about what happened?"
Jenny held her head in her hands. "He... Nicholas said I had to go get you. He said you were in trouble. But then you," she looked up at me. "What are you?" she was not the first person to ask me that.
My shoulders sank. "Honestly, I don't know. I'm a bit confused about things that are happening myself."
"I saw, you like ripped Eric right off of me and then caught me. Then a freaking wolf fighting Eric? And then you!" Jenny was in shock.
"Eric is a vampire. So is Nicholas. They're real," I told her the truth.
Her eyes searched mine as if she could find the lie in what I just shared. "They're human. They've been helping us be better versions of ourselves."
I shook my head, trying again to get closer to Jenny. Thankfully she let me. "Vampires have this ability to compel us, except it never worked on me. We're nothing but a disposable blood bag to them. Our bodies used to make money and to feed them. Nothing more. Thanks to Miles, the man who shifted into a wolf, I found out my debt had been paid forever ago. He's here to help."
"He turned Hannah. But she's okay now. And now so are you. He wants me and I realized he's going to hurt each and every one until he gets me," I told her truthfully again.
She furrowed her brows. Slowly scooting closer to me. "What are you going to do?"
"I'm going to bring his empire down." But first, Miles had to heal and tell me everything. I was not stupid. I knew I could not do this on my own and clearly whatever business he was running was the competitor. At least that's the best way I could wrap my mind around it. Then I had to understand what was happening to me. And finally, take him down.
