Miles was sleeping soundly while I held onto his hand, rubbing my thumb over his hand. His right side was stitched up, already beginning to heal faster than humanly possible.

The door opened, it was Sam. "He'll be alright, he's dealt with worse," he answered my unspoken question.

"We have to take down Nicholas. He'll keep coming after me and he's going to hurt everyone I love until he gets me," I said, not taking my eyes off Miles.

"I should let Miles tell you all of this. But we already went to the council. We informed them of his crimes that we found at King V. It's not illegal in our world to take others for debts as a form of payment but keeping them beyond that debt and killing innocents. That is unforgivable. We have rules set in place to help keep the peace and Nicholas has been pushing it for years," Sam informed me.

The doctor walked in next, checking his bag of IV fluids, his O2 stats, and his pulse. "He's healing quite nicely." The doctor turned to me, "Luna, he should be waking up any minute."

I tilted my head, Luna? The doctor walked out before I could ask. "And that's my cue, bye," Sam said, escaping my questions.

Why did this doctor call me Luna?

I sat in my thoughts for the next hour before Miles began to stir. He groaned in pain and I didn't blame him. If I had a chunk of my side ripped out of me, I'd be in excruciating pain. "Miles, I'm here," I coaxed him awake.

His eyes shot open, searching for mine. "Violet," he croaked.

I nodded, leaning in closer. "Yes, I'm here."

He began to push himself upright, the machine beeping erratically. "Woah, Miles! Take it easy."

"Hand me a cotton swab," he gestured to the counter. I quickly followed his request, confused but I did as he asked. He pulled the IV out and held the cotton in its place.

"You're not supposed to take out your own IV," I reprimanded him.

He grimaced, "Yeah, well, people do it all the time."

"Yeah, in movies," I responded.

His lip quivered up in a smile. "Well, at least I applied pressure after. I don't think they do that in movies."

"Let me go get the doctor," I was about to walk out, not even sure where the doctor would be.

"Violet, come back here, please. I have some stuff I need to explain," Miles said, piquing my interest.

"I'm listening," I said, urging him to continue.

He patted the spot next to him. "Obviously, you know now that I'm a werewolf. And I presume since you're still here you're not freaked out."

I sat down next to him as if answering his assumption. "For a brief moment, it shocked me but I was already piecing together that you were something powerful if you dared to go up against Nicholas. "

"And you know I own a business, have you pieced that information together?" he wondered, his eyes searching for the answer in mine.

"I can guess you are similar ranks as Nicholas, he's the king of his empire," I shared what I knew.

"I am the Alpha of Moonwood pack. We are not just any pack but a long line of generation after generation. I am known as the True Alpha, I'm a part of the council. Nicholas used to be but was banished for his different way of thinking. He felt the supernatural should rule over the humans. Some followed him and left the council but for the most part, the council keeps the supernatural in check. And of course, there are hunters as well that keep us in check just as much. We are to keep our kind a secret. But then you have supernaturals like Nicholas who flaunt what he is with his businesses and yet humans just think it is his brand," Miles shared.

"But where do I fit in with all of this?" that was what I could not figure out.

He held my hands in his and I immediately felt safe and reassured. "You, Violet, are my mate."

I've heard that term before, in fantasy novels. "As in soul mate?" I wanted to make sure I was understanding.

He nodded, "Yes. You have been destined to be my other half. You are the one that can bring out the best in me."

"Is that why I feel so drawn to you?" I questioned.

He nodded. "Yes, and I to you."

He was even closer to me, his breath hot on my lips. I closed the distance. My mouth brushed against his, at first soft and gentle until my body craved more. I was hungry for his touch like hot coals feeding a fire. He pulled me down on top of him, our primal desires being released from the gates for the first time. I did not want to hold back as my lips continued frisking his.

My leg hitched up so that my body was poised perfectly to feel him more than the emotional sense. He was just as hungry as I was. A low guttural growl rose from his chest. The rush of emotions I felt was intoxicating; I was in a riptide and could do nothing but ride it out. And that was what I did, I rode.

Miles gentle touch sent shivers up my spine as he peeled off my top, allowing a moment to catch my breath. His eyes were black, seeing me as his prey. He moved with speed as he switched places with me, moving me below him. "You okay?" he growled.

I nodded, breathless as my hands explored his body and while his ravished mine. In this moment, the threat of the future did not matter. It was just Miles and me. He was hard pressed against me, our clothes still protecting us. And for once clothes were my enemy.

Miles's voracious kisses moved down my jaw to my neck and then my shoulder. I moaned in pleasure and desire. Heat was building within me, I felt like I would explode. "Miles," I moaned.

A sharp sting shot through my body before waves of euphoria radiated from my shoulder where he had bit me down to my toes. My body felt as if it were vibrating with exultation. And I still craved more as my hands caressed his lower back, pulling at the hem of his pants.

Thankfully he obliged without breaking from my lips. I followed suit. It was just him and me in our most primal sense. I knew our relationship was about to become deeper. He was the first person I was ever able to choose for myself. He was about to know me completely and I, him. Our souls would be combined forever and I was ready.
