Violet's POV:
Every ounce of my body was screaming at me, to panic. Telling me to run. Yet I felt reassured by his words. But what wasn't he telling me?
We were going fast down an unmarked road. Surely this wasn't the way back to the hotel. Wait, Hannah? The flaming red hair in the darkness gave her away. "Stop!" I screamed, grasping his forearm.
"We have to get away and fast, he's following. I can hear him," he said, the world around me was still speeding by.
"Stop! Hannah, she's hurt! Just ahead!" I yelled and thankfully he slowed down, stopping right next to Hannah, bleeding from her neck. I tried to open the door to get to her but the child's lock was on. "Let me out!"
"You know this is a trap, right?" he asked, his voice deep and empty.
"I don't care! Nicholas hurt her, he's hurting the girls because of me. I have to go back!" The guilt sunk deep within me. This was all my fault. Even though my debt had been paid, I was to be forever cursed.
"Listen to me," Miles turned me to him, forcing me to look into his eyes. "Nicholas isn't going to kill her if he knows she can be used to bring you back. We're going back to my place and we will devise a plan to attack and rescue all those girls."
"Can we please get Hannah?" I pleaded.
He ran his hands through his hair, cursing as he unbuckled his seat belt to go get the bleeding girl. Only for the vehicle to suddenly lurch backward, spinning all too quickly. Making me face-to-face with the man who had been following us.
The door was ripped off as he snatched me. Only for me to black out the minute he touched me.
Mile's POV:
I knew it was a trap, the minute I went to the girl, she wasn't injured. They had turned her into a vampire, setting up the perfect trap to play at Violet's kind-hearted nature. Since she was new, she was strong and held me back for a few moments. But I heard the car screeching and quickly flung the girl off of me and into the distance.
I was about to shift to kill whoever dared lay a hand on my mate. But I paused as Violet's eyes glowed blue, she held him by the neck with a single hand. He clawed at her, begging her to release him and she only squeezed tighter. What was she?
"Violet?" I questioned as I slowly walked towards her. She appeared feral, her teeth bared as if she were ready to attack as she held the vampire around his neck. The vampire was choking on his own blood. Her hands shaking as she dug her nails into his skin, right before ripping his head clean off.
So my mate could decapitate a vampire with no difficulties, got it. "Violet I said again."
She ignored me, her eyes full of rage as she sauntered over to Hannah. "Our King wants his precious jewel back," Hannah stated, angering me. How dare Nicholas try to take back what does not belong to him? I would have to get the head council involved to look deeper into his crimes.
My nostrils flared, I could feel my body begin to shift, but before I could make my attack. Violet was quick. She grasped onto her hair, tilting her head slightly while her other hand held her steady. My body halted the shift. "Violet?"
Violet bit Hannah as if she were a bloodthirsty vampire. Hannah tried to fight back, but she was losing. Except, I began to hear her heartbeat as her ghostly pale skin gained back some pink. I had never seen anything like it in all my years.
Violet released her, bright red blood stained on her lips. Her eyes locked into mine right as she collapsed. Before she could hit the ground, I caught her. Holding her limp body in my arms, she seemed so fragile. But after what I just witnessed, I knew she was anything but fragile. What was she?
